Patrick Johnson

Patrick is heading to WPTF in Raleigh. He starts on the 28th I believe.Patrick is a friend and a
very talented guy.I've known him since July 1997 when he was a youngster doing sports for WLNR in Kinston.Good luck Pat!!! I'm looking forward to some half off coupons for the Gentleman's business lunch at the Dollhouse and no Patrick I'm not buying your townhouse...

That's a very big loss for 94.3. Hopefully Henry can find someone to fill those shoes.

Congratulations to Patrick on quite a move up!

It is a big loss for Inner Banks. Its only a month and a half until football and Pat was a big piece of that puzzle.Henry will figure something out. This is a great opportunity for Trent
to step up his game and i'm sure Buscemi will assume even more responsibility. They have got several options to do the football stuff.I'm happy for Patrick. This is a great opportunity for him.It is going to be a big adjustment for him but he is more than capable of doing a great job for PTF.WPTF is a great station with great heritage and now Patrick knows the secret handshake to get into the Highwoods VIP room.

Football is going to be interesting for all parties involved since Henry doesn't have rights to it anymore.

Pirate Radio will keep trucking along like they have the last couple seasons and I guess now HH & Co. will compete with them for pregame and postgame audience. What's Beasley going to do? Go from music right into the ballgame?

Pirate radio will continue to do what they do and do it well.107.9 is going to do a great pregame tailgate party.Henry I guess will do the same thing as previous years. There have been rumblings about 94.3 possibly carrying another school but I don't see that happening. You never say never but unless he gets a great money offer from someoneI can't see him doing that but have you noticed how much less Pirate oriented stuff he is doing since the 107.9/ECU deal came about? He still talks some football but there was and is very little mention of baseball/basketball etc....Probably some bruised feelings there and I can understand why but really the ECU fan wins because with 1250/930/107.9/1070/94.3 we ECU fans are getting some of the best and most comprehensive coverage of any university in the nation.I dare say few of the big schools are covered like the Pirates on the radio...

Man, I often wondered what became of Pat. I hired the then "kid" he was still in school at Parrot Academy. He was a class act then. We let him do sports and get his feet wet. He did very good play by play if I remember. Good Luck Patrick, glad you're still in the business.

In addition to working for Henry Hinton he's also been doing TV play by play for MASN - Mid Atlantic Sports Network.

Patrick was 19 or 20 when I was working for Ed Stanley at the Country Bear.Even though the station only lasted a couple of years I have never seen
people go crazy over a radio station like they did there.People would bring me food or presents for my soon to be first born while I was on the air.It was wild.So many people would come by the station to meet the staff Ed decided to have an open house in Oct 97.We had a pig cooked and a band played music. It rained cats and dogs all day that Sunday and we still had probably 200 people show up.If it had been a pretty day I don't know where we would have put everyone.Alot of radio people have snickered at the Country Bear but the station got good ratings on 97.7 and 94.1 and the people loved it.It was like nothing before or since.I have great memories. It just goes to show you what the allure of radio can still be to people.Ed and his family are the hardest working
people I've ever seen.I still have people who ask me about the station and it has been gone over 9 years.Patrick saw it all....
