as someone else said in another post, this is why Local Radio is important
The last people who responded mentioned W R K O
Many of us here knows W R K O airs Syndicated Programming on weeknights which are delay (not live)
As I said in the past, I know they have a contract with Howie Carr to be on until a certain point.
Being in Boston, this is a BIG city, and a huge radio market. For a radio market this big, W R K O Program Management should consider to put on LIVE Programming, either local or Syndicated, there are a few Syndicated Radio shows that are on live from 7pm-10pm, 10pm-1am, 9pm-Midnight
-7pm-10pm "Free Talk Radio" Genesis Communications
-7pm-10pm "Leslie Marshall" WYM Media Management
-10pm-1am "Geoff Metcalf Live" Genesis Communications
-9pm-Midnight "John Batchelor" Cumulus Media Network. Note: His Midnight-1am hour is not live, it is repeated from an earlier hour
Now, that being said, W R K O Program Management should highly look into one or a few of these shows, because one never know for any event like these, they need to have LIVE programming on, or at least (try) and have LIVE programming on 24/7 or almost 24/7.
Don't get me wrong. I like the station.
They just need to consider this for the average listener. In bad times like these, some people with (sad problems) needs someone to talk to.
Example
I was listenning to Avi Nelson last night just before Midnight, a caller (Paul) called in. He sounded ??? hmmm (like sad people)
At Midnight-1am WRKO went to Jerry Doyle who is delayed, not live. Little after midnight, on WBZ 103oam, guess who calls to talk to HayTalking and Dan Rae?
YUP
Paul!!!!
I know it was him because he said the same exact thing as he said when he called Avi
There are a lot of great radio talk programs out there that are on, if not 24/7, almost 24/7. I just wish someone would just listen to me for once and take my advice.
I'm not saying put on All (Syndicated Programming)
I'm just sayng, if they have to save money, instead of putting on so many repates, look into LIVE Programming, either local, if not local, ok, Syndicated. Put something on LIVE!!
Other than that.
Much props to all Boston Media (Radio and TV) Good job keeping us informed
