Paul Ciliano out at B98.5

A few months ago, Cox cut Chris Miller first at 97.1/The River, gave Paul Ciliano double duty at the River and B98.5. Soon after, they also got rid of Chris Wegmann, the market manager. a position that won't be filled. Now Ciliano is out. Why? I don't know. Will check.

Two words...budget cuts.

In addition to being B98.5/97.1's PD and OM, Paul Cilliano was also the AC format coordinator for Cox Radio (at last check).

The big question is...will the new PD be a champion for adding more currents more often (whether they would actually have that ability remains to be seen).

Paul was not a very likable guy... no tears lost at Cox Atlanta over this one.

There's only one PD of B985 and that has always been the case. His name is Bob Neil. As long as he's alive there is zero chance of more current music on the station. With their numbers, why would they change, anyway?

Really? And where are you hearing that? You need to check your sources, if you have any.

Someone in the building told me that:
1. Ciliano was well liked;
2. Ciliano wore many hats and did a lot; and
3. He doesn't think it was a budget cut; thinks Paul might have something in mind.

I had the pleasure of working with Paul at Cox/Tampa and found him very well liked. I do have to agree with a previous poster, however. After working at the Cox/Tampa cluster and getting the change to visit the Cox/Atlanta group, my impression is that his hands were pretty much tied due to the fact that Bob Neil has a 'formula' in mind and there is no deviation from that formula. Why, holy crap! Tampa Bay's Magic 94.9 is voted #1 to listen to while you work, too!
