Paul Davis died this morning (7:16 am) at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. He was admitted yesterday afternoon with chest pains. Arrangements are being handled through O. C. Barham Funeral Home.

Thanks for the post.A hard loss indeed for a great MS native and immensely talented singer.Never heard a Paul Davis song i did not like.Sweet Life is probably my favorite.May he rest in peace.

Gonna miss Paul........real down to earth guy. Great singer/songwriter and a pretty good golfer. Had a chance to play with him at a Jimmie Rodgers tournament in Meridian years ago. He retired early from the music biz and did what we'd all like to do......golf, fish, and have a cocktail.......sounds like a Sweet Life to me. God bless.

He was one of my favorites. He had quite a few hits back in the 70's but today they only rarely play but just a couple on the air. I'd like to hear "Ride em Cowboy" They played that one a lot on WJDX back in the day.
I still get a kick out of "Magnolia Blues" which was kind of a local hit. You can't buy that one anymore, its out of print. I have a thrift store vinyl copy I still play once in a while. Z 106 and 104.5 in Hattisburg slip on a scratchy copy of it occasionally

Paul will be missed. He was a great friend for many years. I have a good many of his songs on my stream. We met back in 1967, but lost contact over the years. The previous post mentioned "Ride em Couboy"... That album had the bet "jacket". Remember it was shaped like a blue-jean jacket. Think he was nominated for best best album art/cover, or something like that.
