Paul Harvey in Harrisburg Market

You mean the Ron Chapman Show? No...not yet.

Honestly, he hasn't been on the air himself in roughly 7 months. Does anyone actually think he's coming back?

The Paul Harvey website indicates that his wife died "Saturday" after a long battle with cancer. Now since there was no date associated with the word Saturday, perhaps it was this week and Mr. Harvey will be back after a berivement period.

Angel passed away May 3rd...and he hasn't been heard from on air since November.

Question--does WIOO still carry Paul Harvey? I know they had it for years and were grandfathered when Z107 had it.

WIOO has not, to my knowledge, at least in the last 25 years, carried Paul Harvey. Both WIOO and WHP carried the ABC Information Network until HP's recent change to Fox. But Paul Harvey has always been a seperate clearance, being at first, for many years on Z-107, then for about the last 10 years on WHP.

Correction: being at first on 1460 WCMB, up until the time Z107 grabbed it in the early '80s.

I was at WNOW when Z107 got Paul Harvey and they tried to yank it from us. Bill Rust threatened to yank ABC or ABC-FM off ALL 14 of his stations, and that was the end of that--Paul stayed. WIOO was also grandfathered. I didn't realize WIOO had been Harvey-less for that long, but if anyone should know, it'd be you, Ray!

Back then ABC Radio had several network feeds. I was with WSFM at the time, and we carried ABC-FM, I believe (great, light, short newscasts - the best of which was with Nick Alexander in the AM drive); meanwhile, our sister station was carrying ABC Contemporary (or something like that), and Paul Harvey was not a part of that package. Z107 pushed ABC on that technicality, and they yanked Harvey from CMB and gave it to Z.

I never understood why Z-107 and WIOV both had Paul Harvey in the 80s and early 1990s. I believe they both came on at the 12:00 noon hour as well. I've sort of been waiting to hear this mentioned in this thread.
