Paul Harvey passes away at 90

You guys missed one of the local yokels, Phoenix! It turns out Paul Harvey died in Arizona. I worked in Phoenix as a radio editor/reporter in the late '90s and got his autograph while he was still in his prime in his late 70s. He was a man who kept the same radio job for 58 years and is the only radio guy I've ever heard of who can't be replaced.

Mr. Michael, you are right. Paul Harvey was a Valley citizen and is a true legend. Harvey was on one of the 2 biggest News/Talk radio stations in Phoenix (KTAR) until a couple of years ago when it was dropped. KTAR's program director promised he would inform the fans where Harvey would land on the radio but never did. I'm sure his program was picked up but have no idea who played it. It's like going from CBS to some-unknown-UHF-network-that-isn't-on-cable.

I think if Paul Harvey's programs where still on KTAR there would have been more noise about his death on this Board.

The three daily Harveycasts wound up on KKNT 960 for a while--
7am, noon and 3pm, IIRC.

I think the Masterblogger mentioned it on his now long-dormant
blog (last entry is still 01/09/2008), however I don't recall if the
handoff got any facetime on the KT'R website.

KKNT must not have kept the franchise for too long, as I couldn't
find it listed on their website some months back.

There are no replies to this thread even though Paul Harvey had a place just up the road in Carefree?

I remember Paul Harvey broadcasting from & advertising "beautiful Carefree Arizona" back in the 60s.
Was he among the developers of that area?
