Paul Harvey Ram Super Bowl ad resonates with viewers

searadiofreak said:
nowhere was Dodge mentioned in the spot, just a quick logo and shot of a Dodge truck at the end.

That's because the powers that be at Fiat-Chrysler have made RAM a seperate division of the company....no longer connected with Dodge cars.

They're still "Dodge" trucks to me too.....but that's marketing for ya!

Yes, they're going with Elementary after the Super Bowl. It's a drag because of the power outage, but the late news was always going to be delayed because Super Bowl coverage invariably overruns the scheduled 10PM time slot.
What's even stranger is that CBS O&O KCNC 4 evidently forgot the game went long & went ahead with their 60 minute newscast special as well as Elementary before proceeding with their usual 35 minute late newscast

I had fully expected them to ditch the 60 minute newscast special & go ahead with Elementary at 9:00 PM since the newscast special was only intended to be a filler anyway

I know this because the Sunday sports show didn't go off until about 12:05 AM when CSI: Miami was to come on

You would think they wouldn't even bother with a 90+ minute newscast at 10:00 PM & just go with the usual 35 minute newscast instead once it was realized that the power outage delayed things as long as it did but that's apparently what KCNC did

Cheers & 73 ;D

I hate it when all 3 of the networks run news late one night because sports pushes it back.
Huh?? The other channels aren't going to run news late because of the Super Bowl or because of anything else on a competing channel. They will run news on time as scheduled. Change channels if you want to see news on time. Or do what we did. We went to bed early because we had to get up early yesterday. The day after the Super Bowl is not a holiday yet!

I didn't mean on the Super Bowl. Only CBS ran their news later that night. There was one Sunday night last fall when all 3 networks had sports on and all 3 of them ran news late. I did not like that at all.

Sooo...what are they supposed to do? Stop broadcasting the sporting events before the games are over to keep local news on time?

Ever heard of "The Heidi Bowl?"

I'm personally not much of a sports fan, but I do understand.

I imagine the spots in the 90+ minute newscast were sold for big bucks. Dropping it would have cost the station thousands.

Do you have a (local) Fox channel in your area? We do, and I sometimes watch "late" local news there because it is an hour earlier.

Since we had to get up early Monday morning, Elementary was on when we went to bed. Based on the previews, I can't see that as being a show that I would ever be interested in. All I cared about was that when I got up Monday morning, channel 5 (CBS) was back on schedule. Guess that they had to drop an overnight infomercial (or two!) to get back on schedule! ;D

While I can see that, I wonder if some of these advertisers were offered "make-goods" because their ads ran so late? Certainly later than might otherwise have been expected.
