Paul Havey in Sac?

Does any station have the Paul Harvey affiliaton in Sacramento?

How about ABC Entertainment top of the hours news? KSAC 1240 has the ABC Information news.

I drove through yesterday and tuned to 1380 for it and heard AP network news. 1320 has CBS. 650 and 1530 are both Clear Channel stations that dropped ABC.

So where have these afiliations gone to (if anywhere) in Sacramento?

Paul Harvey has been on KTKZ/1380-105.5 for a while now. They picked him up after KFBK dropped him. It's been a few months, I think.

Their program guide lists his various appearance times:

(Though for one, the 8 AM airing is probably the 5 minute morning news, not the 15 minute midday show.)

No idea where the other ABC affiliations went. KTKZ didn't pick up the other ABC content except for Harvey. If 1240 has ABC Info now, that's what KFBK ran for years until dropping ABC for Fox News Radio.

Thanks for the reply.

When I think of Paul Harvey on a station I always associate it with the ABC Entertainment network which has Gill Gross and others. KSAC runs the ABC information network which is the same one on KSFO in S. F.
KGO runs ABC entertainment. It is also the one that starts out with the horns.

So it sounds like the ABC entertainment affiliation is available in Sacramento. With it locked in on KFBK for so many years I never imagined it would be available. Hmmm....if I only had a high power station in Sac.

What Sacramento station could benefit with the ABC news entertainment affiliation?

KFBK ran Info for many years, not Entertainment. I think that was the cast (or Direction) that KSTE was carrying, before it, too, dropped ABC. I think KSTE does CNN now.

1380 is doing AP? Last I heard, they were sticking with FOX News Radio, noting that they could keep it (the original "headlines" version) even after KFBK picked up the full-length cast.

And while we're at it - I saw on AllAccess today that a second KFBKer is joining FNR...Lori Lundin, who joins ex-'BK reporter/weekend anchor Todd Starnes at the network.

Don't worry, most people forget about KTKZ.

On point with newscasts, though, isn't 650 a FNR affil? I know KFBK dropped ABC and Harvey, but they're both CC stations and only one can theoretically have the 5 min cast. I was listening to 1320 recently, forget what they're running... CBS?

Also, a question re: ABC casts... I thought KSFO ran the cast that starts with "Here's the latest from ABC News". I thought this was Entertainment, since that is supposedly less than Information, and KGO would presumably have the "fuller", flagship newscast. Also, I've heard a couple lesser stations, like KFNN/Phoenix, which take a cast that has no sounder and doesn't ID the network until the end. Is this Direction?

You have some of this bass-ackwards.

KGO airs ABC-I which uses an open theme most similar to the ABC-TV evening news.
Gil Gross is the PM drive (at least left coast time) anchor on ABC-I.

When ABC split into four weblets in 1968, Paul Harvey was originally part of the ABC-E
network scheme of things, but has always been available to other ABC affils depending
on who wanted to clear him in a given market.

Good! So I'm not crazy.

Basically, whoever wanted to write the biggest check. Although those days are basically gone. You think SALEM would PAY for programming?

Salem wishes they didn't have to pay for the skeleton crew it has left. Even after 22 people have vacated in the last year! They have a board op running promotions, the midday jock running the production department, and 30 or so other folks running around like chickens with their heads cut off. What's next? Maybe the office manager'll start cleaning the bathrooms while the GM covers the front desk.
