Paul Johnson 1935-2010

Just heard from CBS 2 of all places that longtime traffic/weather reporter Paul Johnson passed away today 6-29.
He had been off the air at NBC 4 since January when he had surgery to remove a brain tumor. He had been with KNBC since 1988. He also worked extensively in radio at KIIS-FM from 1969 to 1972, (though I'm thinking that must have been KKDJ then.) He was at KFAC in 1974 where he was a news reporter, KUTE from 1972 to 1973, KZLA/KPOL from 1975 to 1983 as well as Metro Traffic. He has also reported traffic for KNX, KZLA, KACE, KXEZ and KSRF and spent time as program director for WJR-FM in Detroit. He sure had a great voice.

RIP Paul...

Sorry to hear it.

KIIS-FM was KRHM until 1971, when it became KKDJ....then KIIS-FM in 1975.

I was shocked to hear about Paul this morning! My Mom and I thought he was getting better but I guess not. Paul was a great traffic reporter and weatherman and he will be missed!

Paul was my first Morning Drive traffic reporter at KEZY in the 80's. Always a pro and a gentleman! One of the greatest radio voices and personalities on the air in So. Ca. for many years! He always made me sound better! A true pro!

RIP My Friend!

I was fortunate to work for Paul during the 1984 Summer Olympics at Metro Traffic. A true professional and also a heck of a nice guy! I was amazed that he could "know" all of LA's freeways and streets the way he did. I've since come to appreciate how much work that took to do. I was always glad to see him or hear him on the air. I no longer life in Los Angeles but I can honestly say that Atlanta (where I'm at now) could have used a guy like Paul. I was honored to have worked with him.
