PAUL STRONG LEAVING MAGIC 106.3 FM

So, Paul Strong is hanging up his job at Magic 106.3 FM. He is making his official announcement on-air at 2P.M. today. He's been around for many years ever since Power 106 switched to Power 107. I worked with him for about 4 years at Power 107.

No surprise there. First he gets moved to the older demo station, then a signal downgrade. Can't say I blame him.

Not a surprise, the die was cast on Paul when he moved from Power, R1 would simply have to pay out the contract, or let it expire.

a better question, which TV station will he move to? I bet 10!

He said on his FB page that he is going to work for Oxy Water. I don't see a TV in his future. ???

He will not be on any network. He stated he was going to work for Oxy Water.

When did radio start letting folks say good bye to their audience? The industry must be growing up. When I was granted refugee status, my team and I closed the show, promised to see every one tomorrow morning, and then was informed that Steve Harvey would be doing my shift the next morning. Go figure?

Right, I know...read that already...thanks for the reminder. Not saying it will happen tomorrow but I WOULD NOT be surprised if he eventually made his way to TV and if in Columbus, I think he would be a good fit at WTTE/WSYX with the type of local programming they do.

I understand he is going to be sales director or manager of OXY WATER...I am certain that is a great opportunity for him and for them as well. I wish him well...until he goes to TV. ;D

He has always wanted to go back home to Louisville when I worked for him. It will be interesting what changes will happen with R1 in Columbus. It makes me wonder if some dramatic changes will be coming in the near future for all 3 stations. I'm not sure how Power has been doing since DJ Big Bing has taken over as PD there.

Well FWIW, a few months ago R1 CEO Alfred Liggins asserted that there would be no more format changes at R1 stations for the rest of 2012...
