I just heard on WBZ that Sully passed away... only 50 years old...
This type of thing should not have happened. I hope WBZ will do something to prevent this from happening again and be better prepared when breaking news happens. The host Dan Pierce should have devoted his entire show to talk about Paul and let the callers talk about this great host that died from the moment the news broke of his death. I would complain to WBZ 1030 AM about this: http://wbz1030.com/pages/33747.php?Casablanca said:Spoke with Ted Jordan this morning at "W BZ radio" as their newsman would say and he too was disappointed with Dan Pierce's program last night filling in for Steve Leveille. He said they were a little unprepared for Paul's passing. Huh?
Well, certainly Dan Pierce was. He started out as Pat Whitley's producer a few years ago and ended up in New Hampshire. So, there is no excuse for Pierce's inappropriate program on hearing about the death of Paul Sullivan.
Sort of like asking Mrs. Lincoln..." ...other than the shooting Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play...."
Bad form Dan Pierce !
Anthony Schinella said:Dan Pierce also worked on Gordon Humphrey's gubernatorial campaign in 2000.
Humphrey now owns WKXL 1450 in Concord and is my former employer, just for full disclosure.
Here is what Ted K sent out the press people earlier today:
Senator Kennedy said, “Paul was a legend in Lowell who was taken from us too early, and his reporting on WBZ and in the Lowell Sun will be deeply missed by all of us in the Commonwealth. Paul brought his own special style and perceptive wit to politics and current events in the state, and he created countless faithful listeners and readers. Paul believed that all people, regardless of their economic standing or their background, deserve the very best health care, and he fought his own cancer battle with extraordinary courage and class every step of the way. He’s very much in my thoughts and prayers, and I extend my deepest condolences to his wife and children.”
