I expected contract non-renewal, not a resignation. She probably knew it was over for her at CNN anyway.

The plain and simple truth is that Zahn quit before she got fired. It looks better on a resume to have resigned rather than be ousted.

It looks like the resignation is not in effect yet. Paula Zahn was on CNN live tonight. At least she may get to do a proper final show.

While I would normally agree for most jobs, national television anchor is kind of hard to hide. Imagine Zahn at an interview for a new job. The employer should know her name and would know the circumstances of her last job.
