Pax after July 1

Since its been a week or so since the last Pax thread, I figure that we're due for another one...

In any event, looking forward at the schedule for our local Pax station (KPXD/68 in Dallas/Fort Worth), I do see that we have one change occurring as a result of the ending of the joint agreement between NBC and Pax. Specifically, the repeats of the local NBC affiliate news on the Pax station are going away. The result is that next week "Family Feud" will become airing at 6:30 CT, and the informercials will start immediately after prime time (at 10 CT). Presumably, the same thing will be happening in other markets...

PAX sux so bad, I cant believe they are getting away with a national broadcast infomercial channel, what B.S.

Religious/Shopping/infomercials on OTA television stations should be limited to a few hours a day, if that.

PAX, HSN, QVC -- they should all go out of business. I'd rather see some cultural offerings on free TV, instead of crass-comercialism and stupid religious crap.

I hope Byron Allen buys PAX, anyone would be better than Bud.

Changes appear minimal, at least at this point, based on the national schedule posted on PAX's Web site, but yes, I noted what you did, Tom, about the loss of repurposed newscasts. (In Milwaukee, WPXE-TV, Channel 55, had been showing NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV, Channel 4, news at 10:30 p.m. CST.)

Again, looking at the schedule, the basic framework of noninfomercial programming (4 to 10:30 p.m. CST) remains the same, although there are some changes in offerings. It appears as though the network is running repeats of "Doc," "Diagnosis Murder" and "Early Edition" in primetime Monday through Thursday. Most of the pre-June 30 shows are still on the schedule, albeit in different time periods. Fresh offerings appear slim to none, though.

I dont know where you live (meaning in a big city or not), but in larger cities, there sometimes is an extra public station that shows cultural offerings. Also, when you watch HSN and QVC you know what you are getting. Unlike Pax, they dont say they are a family friendly network and then ask you to buy something. Everyone knows thats what they are and thats what you get (not to mention QVC and HSN arent free.)

PAX Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. (WQPX) Has Been Running News Rebroadcasts Of

The Local ABC Station WNEP-16 For Quite Some Time Now. WNEP Also Handles

PAX-64's Sales. It's The Best Off Air Signal In The Market A Shame That It's

Filled With Junk. Wondering What Is Going To Happen To It If PAX Goes Dark.

We Don't Have A UPN Station In This Market ... Who Knows?

See the thread above concerning what will be Pax's eventual fate: "i" (a lower-case letter i, without quotatation marks around it, will be the network's new name), a network on which independent producers will be able to buy airtime for real shows (not infomercials) and sell commercial spots within those shows.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. I hope it can work and be a success.

There was just an article in the NY Post yesterday that stated QVC is 3rd in revenue only NBC and CBS are ahead of them. I don't know what that means since QVC doesn't air commercials.<P ID="signature">______________
