Pax/i national vs. Pax/i local

Why is it that in some markets that has no Pax afilliate but can get the
national Pax feed on cable that one can see public-domain movies and TV
shows but on the local Pax stations - like WPXN/31 in NYC - all you see
are wall-to-wall infomercials until the regular i programming starts?
to me it doesn't make sense, however there is a few religious programs
in the morning but other than that, just paid programming! on the
national Pax you see shows like My Little Margie and I Married Joan, and
I think a western or two along with public-domain movies sprinkled with
reruns of Pax/i fare in the daytime, and the regular Pax fare at night.
but not on the network-owned or afilliate station.

Where I live I get the national I (PAX)on my cable system. The local cable does not have to carry the closest affiliate because it is too far away. So it is not a "must carry" for the system. I can recieve the local affiliate on a TV with a good antenna and, yes they do carry informercials all day while the cable feed runs somewhat entertaining programing. If it wasn't for those shows on the national feed I would never know I existed. No one in my household would ever watch it.

The same goes for DBS (DISH Network, DirecTV). It's paid programming all morning.

It seems to me that cable subscribers who receive the national feed have that perk.

I've said it before but it bears repeating: Pax/i local stations are nothing more than transmitters for hire. You pay your money, give 'em a tape, and you're on the air. People in the know tried to warn us back in 1996 when deregulation came through, but we didn't listen. This is what we are stuck with now. Even the local church ladies who thought Pax was such a nice thing when it debuted have deserted it for TBN. At least TBN doesn't pretend to be something other than what it is.

Pax/i stations could not exist without bigger established stations to piggyback and/or freeload on. They are a waste of electricity and spectrum, and you can tell them I said so.

I e-mailed DirecTV and asked them why they don't provide the national cable feed (as opposed to what appears to be the national affiliate feed). No one there seems to know the answer.<P ID="signature">______________
