PAX July 1 schedule posted

Out of curiosity, I went to PAX's Web site and noted under the schedule link that programming has been posted for Friday, July 1, the day the network is to terminate its joint sales agreements with NBC and the alleged date the network is to go all-infomercial. As far as I can tell, nothing much has changed: "Bonanza" at 5 p.m. (EST), game shows from 6 to 8 p.m., "America's Most Talented Kids" at 8 p.m., a primetime movie from 9 to 11 p.m. and "America's Funniest Home Videos" at 11 p.m.

July 1st is a Friday.

If Pax does decide to go 24/7 infomercials, it might not be (for various logistical reasons) best for the switch to begin on a Friday.

For logistical reasons, the switch might be better off being made on a Saturday (July 2nd), Sunday (July 3rd), or Monday (July 4th).

Or maybe they will just egg all of our faces and keep on with their current programming.

Sometimes people wish and wish for something, and it just doesn't happen.

Their current programming couldn't cost much...It seems like anymore, programming on PAX is just filler for unsold informercial time.

It could also be that they've paid for the rights to continue airing that programming through the end of the season, in which case their schedule might not change much until September.

Even then, Pax has apparently made a commitment to retain entertainment programming in the early evening and primetime, which suggests that something other than infomercials will continue airing for at least a few hours a night indefinitely.

What will be interesting to see is what happens as current programming contracts expire. Will we see Pax replace current programs with even lower cost fare (such as public domain films and TV series) or will they continue with programming similar to what they now run, but with no new first run shows?

The other interesting question is what they'll do to sell advertising time after the NBC agreement ends. My guess is that we'll see a lot of per inquiry commercials, since I'm not aware that Pax (or its owned stations) has much of a sales department. Nor have I seen any indications that they are recruiting a sales staff, at least not for their local O&O (Dallas/Fort Worth).

I just checked www.titantv.com. Here is the schedule for
WGPX/16, Pax for Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point for

6 AM Paid Programming
6:30 Feed The Children
7 AM Shepherd's Chapel
8 AM Paid Programming
8:30 Life Today
9 AM Enjoying Everyday Life
10 AM Paid Programming
5 PM Bonanza
6 PM Shop 'til You Drop
6:30 On The Cover
7 PM Pyramid
7:30 Family Feud
8 PM Doc
9 PM Diagnosis Murder
10 PM Early Edition

Essentially, this is what WGPX has been doing
all along.
