Pax TV on Ch. 16?

Ever since moving to a new house in Flushing, I have been able to get a very fuzzy signal of a PAX TV affiliate on Channel 16...any idea what station this is and where it is from?

UPDATE: Seems to be WGPX all the way from North Carolina...my furthest-ever TV catch, and I've been getting it for the past two days!
Edited by neo11 on 08/15/05 02:40 AM.

Have you seen an ID for the NC station?

There *has* been propagation down there, but... 15 channels separation is a "magic number". TVs are susceptible to something called "image response", which causes them to receive stations 15 channels lower than those stations are actually broadcasting.

Of course, 16+15=31, which is the channel NYC's Pax station is on.

It could be that when you moved, you moved to a place where the NYC station's signal is considerably stronger, enough to "blow through" the filters in your TV and result in this kind of image.

I saw an ID with three callsigns at the bottom of the screen but the signal was too fuzzy to make them out clearly. Where I am now is a few miles further away from the Empire State Building, but a bit higher up in altitude, so it could also be that...i know Ch. 31 is also rebroadcast on 34, but is it also relayed on a third station which could explain the three legal ID's? I don't exactly watch Pax often enough to have taken note of their ID's ;)

I might guess the third station is WPXN-DT, channel 31's digital signal on channel 30. Some station groups (including ours) have decided it's necessary to identify their analog and digital stations separately (WPXN-TV/DT New York isn't acceptable, it has to be WPXN-TV New York/WPXN-DT New York) and it's possible Pax is one of them.

Don't remember whether the Pax 16 in NC has any translators that would account for a third station in the ID. They do seem to be fond of analog translators where appropriate.

The third station is WPXU-LP Amityville which was on 38 until WWOR-DT returned to the air. They tried to move to channel 19 back around 2002 or so, but was denied.
