I don't know how much money island is paying djs to play mariah carey but please just say no.

I was shocked at the article that is coming out of the NY payola trial. What a rip off for fans. No wonder sales are down. Radio isn't playing songs people like, they are playing the songs the record companies are paying them to play.

Shame on radio. I always wondered why folks like Ashlee Simpson and Timberlake were so thankful to the record company. Turns out they were paying for their popularity. I thought I was just out of the loop. Turns out everyone is.

Honor amongst thieves ...? interestingly enough..most of the record folks' names were blacked out in the support documents ..but most of the radio people's names were left in the documents.

....also in the last page of the support documents was a Sony internal memo saying they needed to have an emergency meeting because Clear Channel was threatening to not play any of their records. The Reason: Sony wasn't paying enough.

Mariah's hot, even after all these years.

The fact that CC won't be able to pay
for everything (including how do we say
--- salaries???) or pay multiples of 100,000
is what scares me. Bring on the $$$ "music"
--- them listeners are to dumb to know.
This payola things as old as AM radio.
And it will outlast us all. Funny how we love
our "free" airwaves. I am sure the FCC will
go Sternal on this.

A) You are "shocked at the article" about payola... How naive are you?

B) Payola exists in a very small percentage of the industry... there are a few loser programmers with their hands out and idiot record promoters who were dumb enough to put it in writing.

C) If you think the DJs are being paid to play anything, you really don't know much about radio today... Virtually all radio stations in the country have their music on hard drive and the DJs don't program their individual shows.

D) You ARE definitely as you put it,... "out of the loop."

as my name suggests I am only a fan. Forgive me for my shortcomings. I do not work in the industry. I am, in fact, shocked. My information is only from the article and the follow along article that the FCC is now involved. Apparently, in the emails and testimony, it was clear that "DJs" were being payed to play songs.

According to the testimony it is not isolated and that's why the FCC is apparently become involved (the most recent article suggest radio station licenses may be in trouble).

You go tibbs, Hot she is, Dont like her music anymore, but HOT she Is...

Nothing really. But personally I can't stand her. I think Jessica Simpson is hot, but I have low self estem..... My only problem with her is Derick Jeter's game has never been as good after he got involved with her.

As far as payola goes. If the FCC really wanted to do anthything about it Dick Clark would be doing life in prison.
