PBS 4/2 NEW AMERICAN MASTERS: MARGARET MITCHELL, HARPER LEE

These two programs air on Monday night (check local listings).

Margaret Mitchell has already been shown on Georgia Public TV (new to PBS) and is the most inclusive
and informative TV bio you'll find on her. Lots of interesting and lesser known tid-bits (she secretly sponsored black college students for years) and her "sometimes odd" inner workings are revealed. She speaks at one point with a very high voice much like a southern Minnie mouse. Reenactments are mixed with b&w film from the era. If you like bio shows, you'll really enjoy this one.

Harper Lee (she's from Alabama), "To Kill A Mockingbird" also did research for friend Truman Capote
for "In Cold Blood". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harper_Lee
