And as usual they'll continue the lies that "Your donations keep programming like this on your local PBS station" but then go back to the regular programming after the begathon was over.

It's not a lie because the next time they want money they'll play a lot of the same programming.

I noticed last weekend watching a program about building better memory & during the pledge breaks when they market the DVDs pertaining, they no longer do it under the former, pay this (likely overpriced) amount to get this product, rather it's not a monthly or annual membership because clearly nowadays, in this world where there are countless places online where u can get this stuff for cheaper or even watch it free online, it's no longer worth just donating to get the content of the show u like to watch anymore.

A lot of those "My Generation" specials are getting long in the tooth

PBS can pick up the TV rights to AEW Dynamite and Rampage when WB Discovery cancels their deal in 2024 and get higher ratings than what PBS normally airs on Wednesday and Friday nights.

The June pledge drives on PBS stations are relatively new.

It's my understanding PBS launched the June pledge drive because most PBS member stations (except in most major markets) have some sort of state ownership (state universities, state boards of education, state educational/public broadcasting authorities) and that for most states, the fiscal year ends on June 30th. By running a June pledge drive, state-owned PBS stations can convince state legislators that they have considerable support among the people, which management of such stations hope will lead to a continuation, if not an increase, of state funding.

I've watched the begathon specials at times, but have always hated the lies that "Your donations keep programming like this on your local PBS station" but then go back to the regular programming after the begathon was over.

The one that irritated me the most was when WKNO in Memphis ran a Red Green Show marathon (Which was my first time to see the show) claiming that it would be added soon to the regular schedule, but then it never happened. Either they didn't get the donations they wanted, or they were lying about carrying the show on a regular basis in the first place.
I found fome Ref Green fundraisers on You Tube and according to them. WKNO carried the show in the 1997-98 season but was dropped after that.

CBC seems to air better dramas than PBS they don't beg for pledges either since they air ads which PBS should do they would make more money with ads than they do with those that donate to them. Since The CW has aired CBC dramas in the past and is now airing Family Law which is pretty good I hope that The CW will air season 2 of Family Law next year.
