Is anyone here ever worked with equipment from PCS-Electronics? Their stuff looks impressive and affordable, But the question: is their stuff really good, or are they like Europe's version of Ramsey Electronics?

I've been considering buying their AM MAX rig; It looks like it'd be nice for Carrier-Current use(albeit not legal here w/an antenna).

PCS transmitters are cleverly designed, very clean and extremely finicky.

DO NOT ABUSE THEM. I have three PCS devices. bought fully assembled, all of them now deceased. The AM transmitter was apparently DOA right out of the box. The FM 5/15 watt amp lasted a couple of weeks and then mysteriously stopped, never to be heard from again.

The PCI Max FM card for my PC ran for several months before it crapped out. All are now dead. The problem with getting them serviced is that you have to ship them to Slovenia, which is really expensive.

And since the creator is apparently terrified of having his designs ripped off, there are no decent schematics to troubleshoot from.

BE VERY CAREFUL. These units have no room for error in antenna or power supply matching.

We purchased a PCS FM transmitter - adjustable 7 watts output.

It emmitted a loud buzz similiar to a flourescent light buzz on an a weak AM rdio station.

Power supply was suspect. Following instructions connected it to a 12 v battery.

Blew the power transistors. Smoked - pretty neat, but pretty ugly.

Replaced (very easy and cheap- power transistor is common and easy to find) buzz continued.

Put it on the air and the signal was weaker than the Ramsey FM 100B, and the sound not nearly so good.

The Ramsey costs more than twice as much for one fifth the power.

It is 100x's the quality of the PCS.

We operated the Ramsey for two years 24/7 with ZERO, as in not one problem and a very nice sound when coupled with proper audio processing.

I have read some disparging comments on this site towards the Ramsey concerning, sound, etc. I wonder how many commentors have actually used the Ramsey. In our opinion the Ramsey 100B is an excellent transmitter.
