They should just simulcast Bulldog 103.7 in Athens. That station "gets it."

The question I'd have is "gets what"?

That station is one of the most musically unlistenable things I've ever heard. The air talent isn't bad, but musically it's just ... I don't know the right word, maybe "lifeless" or "uninteresting" are as good as any.
I know that's almost entirely a matter of personal taste & I'm fine with us disagreeing completely, but after living in Athens now for almost a year I'm just still trying to figure out how a college town ends up with nothing that remotely resembles a rock station (or even an alternative as far as I've found scanning the dial).

Bulldog leans "adult" a-la Dave, but musically it's along the lines of a WXRT or KFOG. Th talent IS decent and I personally like it.

Vinny: I don't know if it's just my stream or what. It sounds like an echo chamber. Are they broadcasting out of a cave, or screwing with the audio?

I've listened to the stream and it is pretty bad..4800 bits or something like that, so listening online leaves a lot to be desired. But hey, it's a small market.

Stream

Maybe they've got a limited amount of bandwidth, not anticipating that a bunch of radio-info.com readers would multiply the usage!

GM Rick Caffey is far too busy counting the stacks of V103 cash and trying to keep his on-air staff out of jail to worry about Dave. I doubt if he's listened ten minutes to the station this year. Your best bet is to find Dan Mason's e-mail and send him your notes directly. Now that he's back in charge of CBS radio, I bet he'll want to fix his old station pretty quickly. We all keep an affinity for the stations we help build and I'm sure he's embarrased by what it has become on Rick's watch. Caffey gave up the valuable Classic Hits/Rock format only to see The River stomp on his little lost Dave. Just wait until the Arbitron People meter becomes active in Atlanta. The ratings will go from bad to worse.

I'm hoping that Dan will also clean up WXRT too. It's not what it once was and should be.

CBS deserves it's big black eye (logo) back for the bad things it has done to radio.

Good Luck Dan!

Depends on who gets the people meter. Dave FM is leaps and bounds a better station than Z93 ever was and if the latter had offered a tiny playlist + run a TV commercial every ten minutes (like The River) I'm sure they would've had better numbers.

Dave FM has a wealth of good air talent...too bad they aren't allowed to be talented.

I can't give it all away now but I promise to be "kind" to all.

The Sunday line-up would be:

6am-7pm - Station on shuffle with the entire library available for airplay (this is an idea that 99X got right.)
7pm-8pm - House of Blues Radio Hour
8pm-9pm - Grateful Dead Hour
9pm-11pm - Little Steven's Underground Garage
11pm-1am - Dr. Demento

What do you know, The NEW 92.9 Radio Atlanta just got a higher rating on Sunday nights than it does during the regular week.

thatd be perfect with one change for my book...rather than demento have old skool loveline with adam carolla

He doesn't host that show anymore.

Out: The Cars, Tom Petty and INXS. In: Todd Rundgren, Wilco and Aimee Mann

you are going to ditch 3 rock icons for 3 artists the general public doesnt even know? who is aimee mann? i have xm and sirius and i dont know who that is. i have heard wilco i believe. and todd rungren is just as boring as inxs.

sorry..dont think it will work. bring back z93 ;D

Aside from some people here who have a problem with Dave and their PD, Dave has a consistent, loyal audience. Not the biggest, but no station like that ever has the biggest audience in town. It's more than just the music, the jocks make it more than a jukebox.

That's stupid and funny at the same time...I am not allowed to be talented. Priceless.

By the way, who the hell is Dave? And why does he have an FM?
Has he been nominated by the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame?
