PD For A Day

If you had a chance to run (or own) a station, what music format would you use? I know this sounds crazy, but I just wanna know what everybody's thinking because we all have that dream where we would run the "perfect" radio station (I know I do).

Guess I'll start first; my ideal radio station would be one that played EVERYTHING. By "everything", I mean this; yes, it'll be yet another Top 40 station (but the format generates a lot of revenue apparently, so I'd go for the easy money), but instead of playing the same 20-40 songs over and over again, it'll have a variety of hits. The play list would include songs from, let's say, early 1980s to current day, focusing on Hip hop, Pop, EDM, Techno/Freestyle, Rock, Metal and some country crossover and contemporary R&B. I went so far into day-parting it and scheduling out the shows, if you will, so the end result look like this:

Morning Drive (6-9 am): Hot AC (no rap music)
Mid-Days (9 am-2 pm) and Afternoon Drive (2-6 pm): Rhythmic contemporary (basially rap, pop and rock)
Evenings (6 pm-Midnight): Hip-hop and Metal
Late Nights (Midnight-6 am) and weekends: Pretty much anything and everything goes from this point

I was also thinking about adding several mix shows within that schedule; maybe have one during morning drive (say around 7:30 am), mid-days (at 12 noon), during rush hour (5:00 pm), a specialty mix at night (either 9:00 or 10:00 pm), and weekend mixes on Friday from 10:00 pm to 6:00 the next day; Saturday from 8:00 until 6:00 the next day; and Sunday from 9:00 pm until 2:00 am Monday morning (maybe that's asking for too much for the mix shows, but I think it's a beautiful risk to take).

Maybe my "dream station" will never come to life unless I somehow make a lot of money and take matters to my own hands, but I feel this is how a radio station-- at least in my world-- would sound like in any market.

What do you think? What would your ideal radio station sound like? All comments are welcome.
