Randall Bloomquist has as much say in how WGST is run as Mara Davis does.

WGST is not a radio station. It is a sales office for a Pennysaver. Blaming Bloomquist as the destroyer of all things WGST is as insightful as blaming cars for global warming.

I think we are giving FAR too much credit to PD's these days. This isn't 1980 when PD's still made a difference. These days PD's are controlled by Regional managers who are controlled by Regional VP's who are controlled by Regional SVP's who are controlled by National guys etc...

Michelle Engel does seem to be the only PD locally that calls the shots. I know she has consultants and research people but for the most part she has final say on programming decisions. I would say that SHE hasn't done much at DaveFm to warrant her paycheck.

You're absolutely right, Inside. Randall Bloomquist probably has very little to do with how WGST is programmed these days. In addition to Michelle Engel, I think Dan Bowen probably pretty much calls the shots at Star 94.

IMHO, Chris Williams has improved on a failing station, increased its viability and updated a music list long in need of growth.

IMHO, Chris Williams has improved on a failing station, increased its viability and updated a music list long in need of growth.

You can blame Tim Dukes, Paul Kriegler, Jeff McMurray or Buzz Casey but the common denominator is MARC CHASE! He is responsible for MAX, MIX, REAL RADIO, WILD, and the demise of 96rock! Yet he continues to get a FAT paycheck. No wonder failed radio talents move to management. All you have to do is blame the jocks for bad ratings and you can keep getting paid. Nice!

Don't forget that long before anyone mentioned here, Nancy (call screener) Zintak did a great job of trashing GST after using her "assests" to convince Bob ("fooled another one" ) Houghton to make her PD.

What do you mean "back" -- he never left.

Last summer John Hogan made a big deal out of taking Chase and Greevey out of Atlanta (instead of canning them as he should have done at least six years ago right before turning in his own resignation). Chase cleaned out his Atlanta office, stuffed Elvis paitings and all.

Now Jehtro is "back" as in physically in the building as opposed to destroying from a distance like he does in his other markets.
