Peace In da Hood Radio Go Bye-Bye

I hope somebody challenges that Florida law in court regarding unlicensed broadcasting. Only the Federal govt can regulate and enforce radio regulations. This is a federal preemption issue. Even violating the federal law is not a felony. I think a good attorney could easily get the Florida law made unconstitutional. I'm not advocating pirate broadcasting, just that the punishment should fit the crime. Local cops make a huge issue out of these most of the time using SWAT teams.... totally un necessary

I agree. But you could say the same thing about drugs. If I'm running a multi-million dollar pot grow-op in FL, yes it is FEDERALLY illegal. Problem is, in most places DEA, US Marshals, etc. are spread pretty thin and they don't have much of the intelligence the local-yokel cops do. That's why it is also illegal on a state level...even though it is a federally controlled drug!!! If it wasn't illegal on a state level, I could keep growing my pot until the full force of the DEA busts me...which could take years.

Now compare that to radio. Hundreds of pirates in FL. A couple have been linked to gangs and drug deals...and when the already spread thin FCC takes months or years to complete a pirate investigation, the state level is compelled to act.

I'm definitely a libertarian. But in a perfect world, we'd all have time machines and nice cars. So if pirate radio is federally illegal, if its a problem for the public and the feds are slow to act, the state has to do something...

Radio-X

Nothing in common with "Peace in da Hood" radio...however...get a copy of "Pirate Radio" (The Boat That Rocked)...and be sure to watch the deleted scenes. Sadly, they cut out the best scenes of the film. Altogether, the film that hit the theatres along with the deleted scenes make for a really enjoyable film. The "Meaning of Life" deleted scene is PRICELESS!
