Peachtree TV WPCH 17 Under An Audio Outage

Hi everyone! I was attempting to tune into Peachtree TV earlier this morning Sun. 3/18/2018 to watch Public Affairs on Peachtree. Unfortunately, I could not get any sound on the TV. When I watch other channels, I can get sound just fine. Clearly, Peachtree TV is under an audio outage. I don't know if it has anything to do with Peachtree TV's construction permit. Does anyone here know? If no one here knows, that's okay. I usually don't watch Peachtree TV. I'm just passing the memo along. Anyway, that is all.

I have the same problem too only with Ch14 WPXA (ION network). Believe its a signal level problem. They're located in Rome, GA. which is off axis for my antenna.

WPXA operates out of Marietta and transmits from a tower on Bear Mountain but it is a distance from Atlanta that can cause reception issues. Rome is just their city of license.

With a low signal level, a digital TV signal would probably display pixelization before the audio drops out completely.
Audio and video are carried in the same data stream.

I am aware of that but I believe the video error correction allows the video to hang in there better than the audio on a marginal signal.

The reason I think it is a level problem is that the set upstairs won't receive it at all.

Well. here we are 3 weeks later. This time when I tuned into Peachtree TV, of course, I noticed the audio out during the close of an episode of Atlanta Eats. Then I got actual audio during a commercial that I think was for AT&T. Then the audio went back out for the station-produced ads (promo for CBS46 9:00 PM newscast along with a promo for The Big Bang Theory airing in syndication weeknights @ 7:00 PM & 7:30 PM on CBS46). The audio still stayed out going into Public Affairs on Peachtree. This is so not cool.

WPXA (14) got their problem fixed.
Is your reception problem on cable or over the air.
Cable companies convert the 8VSB to 64QAM so that could be where the loss occurs.

The reception problem is on cable. I could contact CBS46/Peachtree TV online about this. I may just do that. I just did another experiment of the audio and I was able to get the audio for a CTCA (Cancer Treatment Centers of America) ad. Then the audio went back out as Peachtree TV returned from break for the syndicated version of NBC's true crime show Dateline. So basically, this audio debacle doesn't just apply to the duopoly's original content (9:00 PM newscasts, Atlanta Eats, Public Affairs on Peachtree, and station-produced ads). It applies to the syndicated rerun shows, movies, & paid advertisement (infomercial) shows as well. It's clear that only the national ads are exempt from this debacle. This is only happening on Peachtree TV. It is not happening on CBS46. CBS46 is fine, just to be clear. This is just an update on everything. I'll pass the memo along on whenever this audio debacle is over unless somebody beats me to it. If somebody beats me to it, that's okay. Anyway, that is all.

WPXA was off air last night.
I'd try over the air and see if the problem is still there before calling TV46/17.
Cable companies have been screwing around with OTA stations' signals for a long time.

Well guys, this past weekend Sun. 4/22/2018, I was able to check the TV in my parents' den to see if it could pick up Peachtree TV's audio, and it picked up the audio without any problems. I just checked my dad's TV in his bedroom an hour ago. There's no audio problems there where Peachtree TV is concerned. I went back to my TV in my bedroom, accessed the Xfinity audio setup, and I noticed the "Default Audio Track" was set to Espanol. I set it to English and I was able to hear the audio on Peachtree TV for all programming & all ads again. Apparently, when my dad installed the Xfinity box on my TV, he forgot to change the "Default Audio Track". Most likely, I don't think he knew that the "Default Audio Track" needed to be changed. He must have thought it was already set for English. I apologize for wasting anyone's time in this thread. Just remember, everyone, when installing a cable company's set-top box on your TV, PLEASE make sure the "Default Audio Track" (if your box has one) is set to English. Anyway, that is all.
