Pebbles Removed from Jam'n Web Site

All references to Pebbles seem to have been removed from Jam'n's web site. However, an old link to her page shows that she blogged this morning. Was she let go as part of Clear Channel's annual happy holidays you're fired layoffs? All Access is reporting a long list of layoffs in other markets.

Why is it that they do most of their layoffs every single year between Thanksgiving and Christmas? They really just have no class whatsoever...

Can't speak for CC but I know lots of employers finalize the following year's budget in November, which would explain why the ax comes out in the last two months of the year. If Wall Street or the Board of Directors is clamoring for a better-looking bottom line, the corporation isn't going to wait till after the holidays to make it happen.

Been listening to the Ramiro show today and no mention of Pebbles at all. No news updates, etc. Sad day in radio for her to be let go. Honestly though shocked that in these days of radio she was on that show for so long.

Is AMP still looking for a morning show? Getting someone with that many years on the air in Boston would help them in mornings.

Does CC put noncompete clauses in its on-air talent's contracts?

I thought she was great on an AM 5 kilowatt daytimer and has long been one of the under appreciated talents in the market. I don't monitor that station much, but if I recall correctly, she outlasted an assortment of morning saviors. Maybe she's aged out of the format, but I'd suggest there's a spot for her in the market. Boston radio seems to believe that there are no black people over the age of 34, leaving a niche.

Very sad if she was let go just like that without a chance to say goodbye. Can't imagine listening to the show without her. She was getting up there in the age, but she still had a way with connecting to the younger listeners.

Somehow I do think that her contract was simply not renewed or there is something else going on in the background. A few months ago she changed her Twitter name to get rid of the 945 suffix and also many of the references to the morning show were removed from her twitter profile as well.

Unfortunately, it looks like her days at JAMN are numbered. Why else would she be removed from their website? The morning show won't be the same without Pebbles doing the entertainment reports! But with her impressive resume and the years she's spent at CC Boston, Pebbles won't be out of radio for long ;)

See other thread: supposedly domain name registrations have been made for a "Boston's Beat 96.9".
Could be a ruse, who knows, but maybe if they do drop news-talk for rhythmic she could go there.
The demo would be younger. Get her a co-host named Bam Bam.

That demo is too young to get the reference, by about 35 years.

Not sure about that.. my daughter watches Nick a lot, Flintstones are still on a breakfast cereal commercial that airs incessantly. No Pebbles or Bam Bam in the spot, but the cartoon is reanimated like a zombie.

Maybe Greater Media had long been planning to flip WTKK-96.9 to some sort or urban format and maybe they had already lured Pebbles away.

Certainly, her popularity could help build instant street cred with the intended target audience of the new station.

My guess: If 96.9 goes "The Beat", it will come on the air New Year's Eve (possibly around 7 or 8 P.M., perhaps preceded by a stunt of several days), maybe with Pebbles hosting a special inaugural broadcast until 12:30 or 1 A.M. (including counting down to Midnight), then she'd start her regular morning show January 2nd.
