PENGUINS ON THE MOUNTAIN

I was listening to The Mountain yesterday and heard they are the new home of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.

It's too bad that Shamrock is losing a revenue stream to continue supporting Sports Radio in NEPA.

You would think that Bold Gold would have made a play for the rights with stations in Honesdale, Scranton, WB and Berwick. Maybe, they couldn't afford it.

Entercom really doesn't need the additional income. It takes away from what locally-owned stations are trying to do to stay alive.

Whe I was working up there I was definitely feeling the vibes that the love was gone. I got the distinct impression that Shamrock didn't want the Pens and the Pens were looking for another radio venue.

I was a little surprised when I heard the Mountain was going to bring the Pens, they will probably lose some listeners who do not want
to hear hockey mixed in with their obscure Bob Dylan.

That's nothin', I'm hearing football is coming to Rock 107, not sure if it's Eagles or Steelers, but my source says it's a done deal.

football is coming to Rock 107
TS is desperate and will knee jerk react. This is the end of the reign of WEZX as a ratings leader. Why does no one study history anyway? Those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it and radio (especially NEPA radio!) seems to have an uncanny knack for this sort of thing.

oy nairda, the X did it and are now picking at and even beating 107. So, why lead when you could follow? Didn't coke change their formula to be more like Pepsi? LOL!

Carrying either the Eagles or Steelers really doesn't make much sense in this market when fans can see nearly every game on TV. Now the Browns, that would be a much different story.

Yeah, the "X" did it, but they were never really able to sell it. They got some sales, but nowhere near enough.

Does this mean that the X is no longer involved with the Eagles radio network simulcast?

Didn't St. Farid perform the miracle of securing Eagles football rights for multiple PA markets as an alleged result of his contacts from atop mount CBS?

I didn't think they would abandon the franchise this easily.

In true Citadel spirit, if its not selling it must be the fault of the staff. Why not fire Citadel WB salespeople, management, or support staff because it MUST be their fault.

Hmmmm... maybe Citadel started wising up.

Nah!

Sorry if this is a thread drift, but I was watching Gene Simmons Family Jewels the other day and he was in Canada. On the opening of the show Gene's talking about Canada and what he thinks of when he thinks of Canada and pictures are flashing to "enhance" his words. Forgive me if I get the exact words right but here goes. Gene says "Canada, where it's cold" they show a picture of an igloo. "Hockey" and they show a hockey picture. Only it's a W-B/Scr goalie in the net. Yes, Gene says Canada and they show a picture of a Pennsylvania team. It's the black jersey with the big round logo on it. I swear I saw the papa pens patch on his shoulder! I guess local radio isn't the only thing that screws up. ;D
