penn state

sometimes i get a little harsh with wilk radios programing, but today i must say im pleased with the news and talk coverage of the penn state matter. all though wilk is a penn state station for n.e.pa. they didnt hold back on the breaking story of the sex scandel with kids. if the allegations are true, i also think joe paterno must go, as did most of steve corbetts callers, and steve himself. as with the kids for cash scandel in the luzerne county court house,,,, no one new about what was going on with that mess, not any of the other judges, not the district attorney, no one..yea, sure.. well the same with penn state. paterno had to know the whole story, unless he is blind, deaf and dumb. so i thank wilk for going full force with this story.

The polling place yesterday is right around the corner, a two-minute walk. I threw on the first respectable outfit I could find on the hangers, walked around, did my thing, informed the board in charge about today's (11-9) EAS rest at 2PM in case they wished to pass it along, came home, and went on a few computer forums.

Halfway through one post about Penn State, I realized I was wearing my revered Penn State sweatshirt all throughout. It's tough to lose the blue-and-white. They were my high school colors in Brooklyn, too.

I didn't catch WILK. But WNJE 1040 out of NJ and WFAN had the emerging story covered well enough to suit my mix of morbid and bittersweet moods.

Mike Francesa on WFAN seemed more aghast than in control, but his presentation (helped by Kim Jones' reports from the campus) was a steady and good example of live/ immediate sports-talk radio. I'm ordinarily not a Francesa-appointment listener .... I take him or leave him .... but I'm not a basher of his, either.

Mike Lupica on ESPN was more opinionated, and his sidekick -- the name escapes me -- was even more harsh and direct. The two agreed with a caller who began simply with 'Football is over at Penn State', meaning the entire program.

Riveting day at the radio dial. Everyone with the microphone apparently did their job well.

you know steve, just like you, there are alot of blue and white fans, and this is a terrible mark on psu. penn state has given us alot of great scientists, engineers, and other leaders. this is about a few people who dont give a damn about the university. i dont care how many national championships joe paterno won, or how many games he won,or how much money he gave to the school. this is about the CHILDREN who were molested. right to the end paterno wanted to call the shots, when HE said he would retire at the end of the season..well they called his bluff, and did the right thing, they fired him. im not a penn state fan, but we cant blame the entire univeristy for a few bad people. i hope they clean house, and come back a stronger place for education.
