Something that actually has something to do with radio in the area not you playing Fantasy Radio GM is YAWN? Just because this a topic you have no interest in doesn't make it any less newsworthy.

I think they should have hired some one FROM the area. Someone who really has a grip on the Philly sports scene. It seems that they are going to be going head long into the format and it's not just a cup of tea til their next flip... this guy may be good but Detroit and Austin aren't Philly this is a VERY VERY specific sports market and would probably benefit from someone with extensive knowledge of the area.

Now they need to get more local and less syndicated shows and maybe it can put a dent in WIP's ratings.

am950 has always been a joke----except for a few years with standards and classy hosts. in NYC---am1050 is the station that's always been a joke. (another one was the old WPIX-fm!)

What you didn't like Disco102? You didn't like punk rock?? Crazy Eddie?? (Jerry Carrol). And what was wrong with WEVD outside of a very crappy signal at night, ethnic programming and now Sports with the same wonderful signal? ;D ;D ;D

Without knowing Henson's bio, how do you know he's not from the area? Maybe he grew up on the Philly Sports scene?

I mean, I live in the NYC metro, but I'm well versed in other teams.

Say what you want, but I think the station already sounds better than it did last spring (the last time I listened).

Good production, a functional, at times funny morning show and Jody Mac. Maybe they have turned the corner.

RockIntern aka O'Hara aka RunWithScissors: just because a thread doesn't involve the Race Card and you pushing your somewhat KKK-esque agenda, it doesn't mean it's a "yawn" thread. The original post is newsworthy. I used to agree with very few of your posts (only the ones about how rap and hip hop are garbage...which I think it is all crap), but since you have appeared with other nicknames, I'm shying away from defending you.

Couple points here....

I do agree WPEN's production is getting better. Remember they're still a work-in-progress. Jody Mac right now is 950's franchise. Once the morning guys get smoothed out, they'll find their own niche vis-a-vis WIP.

And on 1050 NYC having a crappy signal at night......they're a 3 tower directional setup with a deep null to the southwest. Same pattern is run day and night.Major lobe goes over NYC and I'd hear the groundwave in Southern RI easily over a saltwater path during the day. It was local-like after dark. When it was country as WHN, a lot of the WHIM-1110 listeners would tune to 1050 after sunset.

I was listening to 950 morning show this morning, they did a lot of Eagle talk which was good. They also played a very nice 9-11 tribute to the people of New York.
What is with WIP flipping off it's listeners with some finger deal?
www.whenwilltoblow.com is funny.

I should mention that WPEN is the new home for Monday Night Football and the NFL playoffs

Julius, I'm sure you're happy about that.
Please don't conclude this happened BECAUSE of your calls and emails to the station.
I also hope you have cable or satellite TV, now that MNF is on ESPN.
