Is this nighttime, Rob? LOL.

740 is Orlando. If Orlando was off, then Oklahoma.

1070's Spanish could be North Carolina. At sunset up here in NE Pennsy, this and a half dozen others obliterate WKOK Sunbury -- 20 miles from WKOK.

1090's gotta be KAAY. During their 60's heyday they used to be heard in Minneapolis on a regular basis. Overnights they used to play jazz.

1200 is W-O (Clear Channel) A-I.

1510 is a 'given' as WLAC. Wow, what an influential music station they once were for pop musicians in the 50's and 60's. When I DXed in Clearwater, they were a pest. Great to see they're still around and present.

1590 might've been Houston. They used to bomb across the Gulf at night as KYOK.

540 WFLF Orlando

720 website wednesday (eng) WGN? http://www.podcastdirectory.com/podcasts/32393

780 WVOA heard? (can't read writing) heard 708 area code There's a WAVA, has CP for 12kW days, 9.8kW Critical Hours; 708 area code is in Chicago area.

820 Radio Reloj/ Music We hear RR up here on 820 also under WBAP/CHAM.

840 same as 830/ C2C AM WHAS most likely.

850 christian music (strong signal too) WXJC Birmingham, AL? They were on (apparently) daytime power of 50kW by mistake for a few nights a couple of weeks ago.

870 WLW new orl/Radio Reloj We hear RR up here on 870 as well under WWL.

1020 Radio Reloj Yeah, we hear RR up here on 1020 under KDKA.

1090 southern preacher I agree KAAY Little Rock, AR

1100 WWWE cleveland Call sign: WTAM. Unless it was in Spanish, then WWWE on 1100 in Hapeville (Atlanta), GA

1110 WOWO (coast to coast am) Perhaps you heard WBT Charlotte, WOWO is on 1190.

1190 Coast to Coast AM WOWO possible.

1510 WLAC?? Have read that WLAC puts a good signal into the SE.

1520 cont. christian music Most likely WDCD Buffalo, NY

1530 columbus (no bro stare) WCKY Cincinnati

1600 new orleans Possible KLEB Golden Meadow, Louisiana 250 watts night; they have CP for 7.5 kW days

1610 coast 2 coast am This is doubtful that C2C is on 1610: Carribbean Beacon-Anguilla; Spanish Language-Toronto are unlikely to carry C2C; there was a station in TX on 1610 but now silent.

Try http://www.radio-locator.com/ to help figure out what you may have heard.

Given the 708 area code, it's quite possible that you were hearing WBBM Chicago as part of a mix of several stations. As for 1520, no that wasn't WWKB Buffalo. More likely suspect is WHIM Apopka, FL - which is still a very good catch.

yea, at 2:00 AM last night wanted to give you all reports on the CC radio 2 i bought, awesome performance,

ok question for ya what's 1050 i heard that's a BIG station out of Mont. Mx about 200KW or so.

(radio locator is limited and won't do mexico)

when funds allow it i want to get an icom and a nice sloper for MW band and a yagi for FM DX.. but my credit card is..ahem..

Thanks all any more ideas?
-Rob

ok, what's the KW of it? cause if we didn't have a local on the 1050 band, i could prob hear it daytime.

Rob....when I was 100 miles west of you last week, XEG was pounding in every night on 1050. Also did WWL AND WLW switch frequencies? ;D

First, comment. I used to frequently catchColumbia on 810 KHZ up here in Cincinnati. Do any of you Southern travelers ever I.D. it? Used to be Radio Sutatenza, now Carocol.

In my opinion, Cuba ruins things down there far more than IBOC. Many of the spanish stations you heard were Cuban. As and example, 710 KHZ has several Cuban stations on the frequency, not to mention WAQI in Miami.

I could go through the whole list, but some are:
540 Any chance you were hearing XEWA in San Luis Potosi MX?
900 XEW?
1110 WBT Charlotte
1190 If I were a betting man, I'd say WOWO in Fort Wayne
1530 is WCKY Cincinnati, not Columbus
1480 is probably Mobile AL
1640 probably WTNI in Biloxi MS
1660 WFNA Charlotte They boom in here even after they are supposed to be on 1KW. Me thinks they "forget" the powerdown proceedure. Could be Waco as Crainbo wrote.
1670 WFSM Warner Robins GA
850 WJXC Birmingham AL

I often wondered how much of the wattage of some of the Mexican stations is real and how much is, um, blue suede.

Or how good the ground conductivity is in that country.

I *believe* that New York City's WHN/WMGM/WEPN's signal pulls in toward Monterrey ..... yet, when 1050 was off, all we'd get in NYC was a peep from XEG.

XERF was the same way. Lousy. When CKLM Montreal was off, Wolfman Jack on XERF and it's supposed 150,000 watts sounded more like 1,500 watts on that clear channel. (And being from a more northern latitude, we in NYC always were in great position to hear that default Auroral stuff from the south).

Ditto with XEX 730. At one time they were supposed to be 500,000 watts. That would've made them not just a Mexican Clear but a Western Hemisphere Clear. Their signal was never that loud.

XEW, XEROK and XETRA were others that didn't seem to sound anywhere near their listed wattage. Anyone know for sure?

Good point about the Cuban stations. They reek more havoc on the AM band in the south than any IBOC.

During the night here in Tampa, I always hear a Spanish speaking station on 810 but rather weak and coming from a SE direction. I never got an ID but just assumed it was the station from Puerto Rico.

Sounds like you've got Colombia.
