BPatrick brought up the possibility in this thread

of whether any one of us has met anyone famous and how the meeting went. IIRR, this topic has probably had a round or 2 here since RI has been online. Also, IIRR, the mod-folks may have had to step in at some point (?) before, so hopefully this go-round can be civil....
Charlotte Rae (Facts of Life, Diff. Strokes)- she'd lent her voice to a children's book-on-tape back in the early 1990s and appeared for a book-signing at a bookstore where I was working at the time; she was very nice, and complimented my voice for some reason
Kristian Alfonso (Hope, Days of Our Lives) and Peter Reckell (Bo, Days) - appeared at a health fair put on by the local NBC station; they were as nice as they could be, considering the mad rush of people going by them for what seemed like 2 hours.
Rene Syler (ex-The Early Show) and Peter Bergman (Jack, Young and the Restless) - during the TX State Fair, and before Rene had jumped to The Early Show, she'd just started a new anchoring job at KTVT/11 in Fort Worth after having been away from local TV there for a while. She was quite nice, while Bergman might have been tired (or had too many whiffs of the livestock barn
)... he wasn't rude, though, and thought it was sweet that my mother was a fan of the show.
Linda Dano (ex-Felicia, Another World) - an amazing woman. She is as nice or nicer than anything you will see her do on TV. No snobby diva act. Classy, friendly, and genuine. (Wow, guess I'd better stop with the adjectives
). No matter how rushed she might be at an appearance, she makes time for everyone present. Linda is probably the person I'd most like to be friends with, of all the personalities I've met.
(I've met other AW actors, including Stephen Schnetzer (ex-Cass), Laurence Lau (ex-Jamie), Judi Evans (ex-Paulina), Anna Stuart (ex-Donna), Mark Pinter (ex-Grant), Gail Brown (ex-Clarice; Brown is Karen Black (the actress)'s sister), Les Brandt (ex-Rafael), and David Andrew Macdonald (ex-Jordan/David) ... I've been in somewhat regular MySpace message contact with Brandt, as well as Clayton Prince (Reuben); a while back, I traded several emails with Thom Racina (ex-AW headwriter, 1986-1988) as well ... all were quite nice and outgoing, most of the actors are still acting, with Schnetzer doing bit parts and some ads (Aleve, UBS), Dano is still acting but limits herself and has given up being on soaps (sadly) since the deaths of her husband and mother a while back, Brown is mainly a housewife now, Racina has been a writer for many years with several books to his credit, Evans is back on Days (her previous role before taking on the part of Paulina), and Lau and Pinter have recently landed new soap work)
Joan Rivers - she used to have a radio show on WOR in NYC, and I tried calling one day after having heard her show online, and surprisingly got through. I asked her why she hadn't put out a new comedy album. "Because I wouldn't PUT OUT!!!!" OMG, did I walk into that one! Rivers had done a bit part on AW in it's last years, and I asked her about that also. She was realistic about the show being cancelled but really liked having had the opportunity to play on the show.
Paige Davis (Trading Spaces) - she passed through the line one day at a drugstore where I was a cashier. I told her I hadn't seen the show before, and she was quite anxious for me to see it.
Lou Diamond Phillips - he and his then-girlfriend, as well as a producer/director/writer, and an actress, were all staying at a hotel where I once worked. They were filming a movie nearby that was originally named 'Bloodlines' but by the time the project was done and listed on IMDb, the title became 'Striking Range'. I only got to see him as he passed through the lobby once; they had him in almost every scene so he was probably the busiest person on the project. I think the movie didn't even make it to theaters, just DVD.
Pat Summerall - was at a booksigning with a local Dallas-area sportstalk radio host who'd done a book a while back about the Dallas Cowboys during the mid-1990s. He was friendly, but seemed possibly tired, which might be understandable considering his recent health problems. I told him how much I'd heard his name throughout my life as my mother was a big Cowboys fan; he was very appreciative and also expressed his condolences about her passing. It was actually quite an experience to meet him...other than seeing someone in person who my mother admired (and was fond of), there was quite a bit I noticed in him that reminded me of my father, especially in his last years. I wasn't expecting that effect at all.
