Good websites for the Butler stations, nicely tied into a Butler County site. And three good formats as well. Good to see music playing on AM as well. Proves that with some effort, some promotion, and being local, it still can be done. KUDOS to WBUT, WISR and WLER!

The entire issue of whether or not to expand playlists or adjust testing methods really comes down to those who maintain the traditional view that "we've always done it that way, therefore we'll always continue to do it that way" versus those who insist that there should be sound, logical reasons for how things are done other than mere tradition. That's why every time I ask "why" about anything, the response is usually "because we've been doing it that way for a long, long time".

Well said, Realist. Anyone who subscribes to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality will one day find themselves with something that is broken...and obsolete. And parts will no longer be available. My former employer, Renda Broadcasting, is an excellent example of trying to reinvent themselves over and over again by using that same philosophy, and it has contributed to their continued growth all these years. Our GM at my current stations, is fairly new to radio, but has been a businesswoman her whole life. She participates in this "idea bank", and many of the ideas that she has brought to the table are being hailed by industry veterans who have been around for decades...many of them group owners that I know personally.

Thanks, Chris. We're in the process of redoing that website to make it even better. We had a meeting last month with our four owners, who solicited ideas on how we can do this. Lots of great ideas...streaming audio, real-time video, interactive promotions, and other niceties. We're getting more bandwidth, so once that's done, we'll be able to put together a website that we can REALLY be proud of.

We have a very deep music library for all three of our stations. It's not the same overtested, overconsulted, and overresearched 150 titles that get hammered over and over again. We have very little repetition, other than the currents, for obvious reasons. But our gold libraries are very deep, and when you couple that in with the full-service news, talk, and sports programming, the chance of repetition is even less.

Our talent is also a huge asset. Every one of our full-time announcers has been here for at least 15 years (I'm the low seniority guy), and are very active in the community. As is the case with the rest of the staff. Our ad reps stay with us. One of our owners (before buying into the station) was our sports PBP guy for close to 20 years. Strong family atmosphere with top-notch talent all around. Few stations can offer that these days.
