WEHM - WEHNOn Long Island, “an entity is being removed from the ownership chain” that ultimately traces to Arlington Capital Partners. Four stations that once belonged to Peter Ottmar-run AAA have recently been listed as being part of Arlington Capital-backed Cherry Creek Radio. Now Arlington files to take a direct controlling interest in Long Island Radio (which it “currently controls indirectly”). The stations are AC “Lite” WBAZ, Bridgehampton (102.5), top 40 “101.7 The Beach” WBEA, Southold, adult alternative WEHM, Manorville (92.9) and simulcast WEHN, East Hampton (96.9). It’s a reminder that money sources such as Arlington Capital are behind many of the radio groups whose names are more familiar than Arlington. Perry Steiner and his partners at Arlington are content to stay behind the scenes. But Steiner and/or his partners Robert Knibb and Jeffrey Freed hold interests in more than 50 full-power stations, plus translators.
