Fine scan again, CyberDad, and good memories.
Lots of position-jockeying on the AM dial since those early 70's days.

WWBA's calls used to be on 680 -- a Beautiful Music daytimer, // with an FM. 'The Bay'.
'820' didn't exist then. There was a WSST on 800. It was a 250-watt directional daytimer.
WFLA 970 was an easy-A/C - full service Chicken Rock station.
I don't remember a WHBO (or anything) on 1040 at the time.
Lol -- I have a WNVY 1230 jingle, from Pepper-Tanner's ;Sound of Feeling Good' package.

(How does one post an mP3 sound clip to this site? I have a few from that era which might be interesting, or at least evoke a memory or so.)

After WWBA moved to 820 they could be heard right before sunrise in the Chicago area before the local 820 went 24 hours. Obviously on their 50KW pattern.

I think WWBA and WHBO might be diplexed, but I'm not sure. I know they both "peel paint" north of Clearwater. I do remember WWBA being on 680, but I didn't recall the format. If memory serves WHBO was a daytimer on 1050. 1kw IIRC. By the late 1980s they were on 1040, and running 5kw. I don't recall if they were fulltime at that time, but i do remember the format as oldies.

WNVY on 1230? I mostly remember them as country. Pepper Tanner jingles? I worked at a place that had their stuff, Mostly for production. I was a fan. I wrote quite a bit of business using their material for demo spots.

Really enjoying these reports!
Might have said this way back when, but Panama City Beach was where I first experienced what salt water can do for AM signals. That was on Spring Break of 2000 and our place was right on the beach. I remember being flabbergasted at how strong WWL came in on my Walkman, knowing we were well over 200 miles east of New Orleans. Only several years later when I joined this board did I learn about the conductivity of salt water.
