Perfect Declipper

Just bought and downloaded the thing, and I can't get it to install or open... What the hell???!!!!

Want to use it on Adobe Audition 1.5 to pre-process song files.

Yeah, I know... Old-ass version, but it's what's here at the station. Shouldn't it work????

I can't find a single thing online about using this program to render files. Everything refers to using it to process real time crap on Winamp.

I went to "Add/remove VST directory"... When I browse for the file, it does not show up as an available file in the folder where I put it.

Also the registration key is not showing up in my e-mail.

Now it's showing up on the VST list, but it's grayed out and can't be selected... I assume because I don't have the registration key?

How the hell can I enter the key anyway when I can't even open the program?

The download has a dll file extension, titled "vst_perfect_declipper.dll". It will not load, open or do anything. I don't expect to be able to actually speak to a human being for help now that I've paid for it...

When I bought/registered, I just made a folder, extracted and pointed Audition to it. Mind you, this is CS6, but I would imagine the VST protocol hasn't changed.

It won't extract, open or do anything. I get the "windows cannot open this file" prompt directing me to select the "program to open with" from the list.

Got it to work at my office on the CS6 version....

Now how the hell do I get my unlock key???!!!

I paid with Paypal and have a Paypal e-mail receipt, but that's it! There was no place on the purchase field to even enter an e-mail address!

You should have received your key now. I have mailed it to both email addresses I have from you. When you registered, a message should have been displayed that it can take a few hours before you receive it (I know, that's bad, but I still haven't found time to automate the process).

Now, the other issue: Audition 1.5. I've just Googled a bit and I see more complaints about many VST's not showing up or being grayed out in Audition 1.5, which was the first Audition version to include VST support, where people get the suggestion to upgrade to a later version (which, as you've seen, helps). Could be because it's from 2004 - Perfect Declipper is a VST 2.4 plugin, and VST 2.4 was released in 2006 (still over 6 years ago)! Most new VST's that come out today are VST 3 plugins, and they will definitely not work in Audition 1.5 - I chose to use 2.4 because I didn't need any 3.0 features so I went for compatibility.

Btw - why would you want to type an email address when registering? You paid using a PayPal account, which means that I get your email address from PayPal. In the very rare cases when that email address doesn't work I try to find a different email address using the info that I have, when that fails people can just mail me and I'll forward the key. Also, what makes you think that you cannot talk to a human being if something doesn't work? I always try to respond as soon as possible to questions, but I cannot be online 24/7! You registered and mailed me just a few hours ago...

If you cannot change to a different Audition version in your studio and hence cannot use the declipper there, just let me know and I will of course refund the money.

Note to anyone else who wants to buy it: Please try it out before you buy! There's a reason that there's a trial version available for download; there are literally thousands of VST host programs out there and there's no way for me to test them all! If you find one where it doesn't work, please let me know!

And thanks for your help with everything. And my apologies for being a ranting @$$#!!... For now, I will take the songs from the station to my studio with CS6 and process them there.

The program is great, by the way! I know that some of today's crap can't be fixed by any means, but what this does seems to be nothing short of amazing without needing to tweak every track.

Declipper is great. And CS6 is the first Adobe product since they bought Syntrillium that I actually thought worked well.

Good combo.

For doing simple stuff, I actually don't like CS6... It's bulked up with crap I don't need, and it seems to have removed some of the short cuts to the frequently used functions, or removed them altogether, such as "generate silence".

Having said that, it mostly keeps the intuitive feel and workflow pattern of previous versions, so I will deal with the issues. Right now, I'm using it with firewire to and from the board, with the analog still in place as a backup. Every time the system crashes (not too often) it seems to revert back to the analog settings and I have to change it back in the preferences.

Edit, Insert, Silence... It was moved in 5.5 (which I hated). I have not liked Audition since 1.5, which was before Adobe put all the video crap in it. CS6 is way better than 5.5 as far as radio use. The time stretch/compression is the most improved algorithm in my opinion.
