Performance Tax

The money grabs are what no talents are all about - they can't make it with talent, so they grab up whatever looks like money to compensate. This too shall pass. People get tired of their crap and ignore them entirely. They end up going away at some point.

Step one complete the bill passed the House Judiciary Committee yesterday morning. There is still a long way to go but the money grubbing people in Washington will approve it as well. Now I just saw an article in the CDT that said they are doing the same thing with movie theaters and trying to tax them for every movie they play. It's a shame they could not keep up with the changing times, but do radio and movie theaters have to make up for their loss? Also isn't that Payola anyway just ass backwards?

Just another way to level the playing field. If they impose this, I say bring back payola. Fair is fair.

Given this is not the norm in other countries, it would not surprise me if the WTO gets involved eventually. Or a good anti-trust lawyer.

TV Business Report observation: At the moment, the labels seem more intent on destroying their relationship with radio and the free promo that comes with it - even though it is critical to generating hits, and hits are still the name of the game. They'll probably also continue to sue college students - and lose money.
