Peroria Radio Market

radiotexas,

From what I've heard and read, there's been a lot of changes in the Peoria market over the past few years, and even the last few months. Those with more knowledge of the current status of the market will have to fill you in on that since I left there 7 years ago. I still have relation there so I do give a few stations a listen when I'm in the area. Where did you work before leaving Peoria?

Regent Broadcasting owns:

JMP Radio owns:

1470 WMBD (N/T)
1290 WIRL (Classic Country)
93.3 The Drive (Classic Hits)
Lite Rock 107 (AC)
102.3 Max (Classic Rock)
104.9 The Wolf (Country)

Independence Media owns:

99.9 Pirate Radio (Adult Hits)

Kelly Communications owns:

Can't forget WBNH, WCIC, and WPEO-AM, different owners and all Christian formats.

I remember visiting my mom in Morton in the late 1980s and really enjoyed listening to WWCT. At the time they had a pretty good morning show, as I remember. What ever happened to that station?

WWCT was blown up on the 105.7 frequency in June of 2003. The call letters and format moved to 96.5, where it stayed until September 2006. Now the call letters are on 99.9FM, with the name "Pirate Radio"

The beginning of the end of WWCT came long before 2003, when the owners decided not to carry Bob and Tom, then sold the station to Kelly Communications, and then later AAA. It just couldn't hold the glory it once had. All good things must come to an end...
