Personnel Changes at KKBA Corpus

Saw on All Access today that Bart Allison was let go at rhythmic AC K-Bay for "budgetary reasons". He had been doing mornings at 92.7 for 5 years and was at KZFM 10 years before that. The K-Bay website doesn't list a morning show for the moment. So what will they do in mornings - something syndicated, like moving John Tesh there, or maybe one of the 2 remaining local DJs and then voicetracking one of the same DJs on another shift?

This is one of CC's better sounding stations. They have been entirely jockless or voicetracked on weekends for a long time.

More changes.

KZFM and KKBA have new voice-over guys. KZFM has the guy who does WRKS NY and alot of other stations, KKBA has the guy who does Hot 97 NY and had done KZFM for several years. I'd name the voiceover talent if I was up on such things. Anyway, both sound good. It is a fresh sound for Z-95 and a hotter sound for KKBA. Now if they could just do something about Delilah. (I know, she probably pulls in decent ratings though the music is different from the uptempo stuff on KKBA the rest of the day).

Heard Ed the former morning guy from KZFM doing mornings on KKBA this morning. As noted above, voicers are now done by the longtime Z95 voice guy. The station now goes by "Corpus Christi's Greatest Hits", heard currents by Shakira and Michael Franti this morning, otherwise the usual rhythmic AC fare from Madonna, Donna Summer etc. Anyway, KKBA really seems to be positioning itself as the choice for grown-up former Z95 listeners. Interesting sounding station. New website is pending.

Looks like a Saturday night mix show has been added. Interesting mix of music these days on KKBA. How many ACs play "Jump Around" by House of Pain as a regular part of their rotation? But I also heard "Back in the Highlife" by Steve Winwood today. And I think a few more currents (primarly uptempo songs) are being played than previously as well. Delilah is still on at night.
