"I see your point. And raise this one. It's not just police "working" a crash. It's fire, ambulance, wrecker and, in the case of 18 wheelers, state motor carrier or public safety people too. If it's a fatal it's a crime scene and here come more people! It's also just an extra verb to employ when you get tired of the others. Gotta' keep the act fresh!"
I see your point and raise one. "Officials" or "Emergency officials" can save you some good reporting time so you can move on to the next incident and not yak the listeners' ears off.
One thing about this market is there are so many who will leave the scene before Police even arrive since they don't want any.......'issues' or they don't have insurance.
Sometimes even that one car wreck at Poplar and Yates is responsible for the entire east leg of I-240 backup.
