Pete, Ernie, and Skip

Three Georgia Radio Hall of Fame inductees, Ernie Johnson, Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren, are all on the list among the 75 candidates for induction in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The challenge is how do you only select one of these? You can vote once per day, between now and September 30th. The top 3 among fan votes will be on a list of 10, and the committee of 20 will pick the one inductee. In this case, the Braves broadcasters were a team and all 3 deserve induction into Cooperstown.

IMHO could there be a "special" award for all of the "Super Station" baseball crew. When I think about it WTBS (channel 17 and satellite coverage really put GA on the "national map". Had there not been a Super Station would there have been CNN? Ted might have "saved" the Braves from moving out of Atlanta. BTW I am not a Ted Turner fan but IMHO he as much for the city Media wise, and the airport did for attracting companies to open offices here.

Heck, Ted/Channel 17 gave all of America a team that most people could follow AND watch most every game in the process. They weren't called "America's Team" for nothing. I wonder how much the national footprint of the Bravos did for the popularity (and revenue) of MLB during a time when a lot of sports revenue was trending away from baseball and towards football.

Maybe the Braves should retire #17 in honor of Turner and TBS for what they contributed to the club.

Watched a Star Trek episode called "The Neutral Zone" the other day. What I find funny is that this episode was made prior to when the Braves went on their 20 year run as a National League leader. I believe the quote was based on what the Braves were doing prior to 1991. Here is the quote from that episode.

"Let's see if the Braves are on. ... I'd like to find out how the Braves are doin' after all this time. Probably still finding ways to lose." -- Sonny Clemonds, 20th century country music star cryogenically awoken in the 24th century (Star Trek: The Next Generation, "The Neutral Zone")

You can see the snipit of this quote in this episode on the Youtube video link below. It is about about 6.5 minutes into the video.

Trying my best to understand what the hell this has to do with voting for Pete, Ernie, and Skip to get in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
