In this day of consolidated ownership, it's hard to know where decisions are made. During Mr. Spriggs' tenure at WSB, all of the right decisions were made, and I'm guessing he had a lot to do with them. Examples are how the station replaced Neil Bortz and eventually hired and then promoted Eric Von Haesler, rearranging the schedule to turn the 4-8PM hours into local ones, giving Mark Arum a show and then moving it to more-listened-to hours, and a lot of formatics and imaging, i.e. news intros and the like.
The decision to soften the station's imaging concurrent with the new 95.5 signal was a good one IMHO. It was time after basically the same aggressive imaging had been used for around 25 years. The new stuff still features Jeff Davis' voice and others, but it's a welcome change. The writing for the new sweepers is also excellent. I don't know whether or not Mr. Spriggs deserves the credit for this. But I can say WSB has sounded consistently great during his time at the station.
