The story is not on allaccess least that I know of however there has been plenty of buzz with people I know plus twitter. Anyone know anything??? There seems to be a #bringpeterback type thing going on twitter. Anyone have any idea whats going on?

Everyone knows Clear Channel is sales-driven, not ratings-driven (at least as far stations like KTKR is concerned). I highly doubt they would have let go such a high-revenue salesman just because his paperwork was suffering. There HAS to be more to this story, right?

A slot opening up at KZDC? Paul Alexander leaving? When was this event publicized? I don't listen to 'that coach', because Jim Rome is a much more entertaining sports talk host. Is PA's departure voluntary? Is he going back to selling cars? What will replace that time slot?

S.A. media changes

Meanwhile, more changes hit S.A.'s TV and radio airwaves this week.

Not only did KENS present Chris Marrou replacement Jeff Vaughn on Monday, but a new morning radio team had a lively debut on Y100: Jesse James and Randy "Shotgun" Shannon out of Denver replaced Kris Winston and Alyce Ian.

Paul Alexander -- known to listeners as "Coach A" -- will bid farewell Friday to his lively midday sports show, Bringin' It, on KZDC (ESPN 1250 AM).

His exit leaves our ESPN affiliate with only one local weekday show, afternoon drive hosted by Chris Duel and Jason Minnix.

Alexander is leaving to become director of enrollment at St. Anthony Catholic High School here, a learning institution dear to his heart. He previously taught and coached football there for 11 years.

Alexander, 55, reasoned he would be transitioning out of radio at some point, so why not do it on his own terms with a stable salary and future to boot? He said his family is very supportive, and he's expecting his first grandchild this summer.

He'll still have a presence on BMP radio -- KZDC and KTSA-- contributing occasionally to various shows. As for the upcoming 11 a.m.-3 p.m. vacancy, BMP programming honcho Mark Landis said KZDC will use a national feed from ESPN for the time being.
 
Thanks for the update. I don't read much of that local birdcage liner, either. Maybe someone was nice enough to give PA advance warning about looming budget 'readjustments'. His ratings against Jim Rome weren't really worth the kilowatts. Leave the exciting and glamorous world of local radio for an admin job at a catholic HS? Why not use that tired old excuse, "spend more time with family"? It sounds more like seeking a steady, reliable and secure paycheck instead of the daily dance on the edge of the abyss. And what about all the others, Winston and Alyce, Peter Burns? What was the story about W & A's sudden departure? The newspaper gossip columnist reminds me of those Coast-2-Coast stories, all rumor, hearsay and never giving hard cold facts, details or specs. I know this isn't their thread, but why was a local show replaced with a syndicated SATfeed from Denver? What became of W & A? Ages ago, why did they leave KZEP so suddenly for country? What about the BS excuse about Peter Burns? Will we ever find out the real dirt about a stellar salesboy fired for sloppy paperwork? Maybe it was sloppy bookkeeping, or Enron accounting 101? This all leaves the BIG question......Who's next? I'm sure that the few local DJs and hosts are losing a little more than sleep these days.
 
Can't SA come up with a Hispanic personality that can do local Sports Talk show? Cowboy talk, Spurs talk, boxing and MMA. C'mon people

What constitutes a Hispanic personality? I'm not trying to be flippant. For exmaple - Mike Taylor is half Mexican. THat certainly makes him Hispanic. He does a local sports tall show. He talks Cowboys and Spurs. Again, not criticsizing your post, just asking what you mean by it.

i honestly don't see why it matters. who cares what race someone is? if they can do the job they can do the job.
 
It seems to me there are tremendous homegrown Hispanic talents on the air in SA. You just need to listen to the right stations.

It sounds like the poster wants the majority of the on-air employees in SA to reflect the majority population of the city.

Once again, I don't see why that matters. 2010, we all need to see beyond race. We are all humans. We all bleed red.

Lets say I was X race with green skin. And I had a choice to listen to another person of X race with green skin who sucked, vs a person of Z race with red skin who is excellent. I am going to choose the person who I feel is the better on air talent. Race has (or should rather) play ZERO relevance.

In an ideal world maybe, but the law says otherwise. When I worked in broadcasting, I saw qualified people get passed over for promotions because of a need to fill EEO quotas. I will never forget the day a manager told me not to bother applying for a higher position because the station manager insisted that he fill it with a woman or a minority.
