Peter Ferrara on HD's rollout / holiday sales

ElCheapo said:
Peter Ferrara is the CEO of the HD Digital Radio Alliance. He seems pretty comfortable with where HD is - don't you think?

"Comfortable"... I would be too--after a few trips to one of those infamous "hospitality suite" bars the NAB convention is so famous for... 'Give me another Scotch on the rocks, bartender--and let's celebrate the success of HD Radio :D FACT... IBOC is a defective and destructive broadcast technology... Even the "unwashed" consumer isn't buying it... Literally!

These men are paid to be cheerleaders, and Bob Struble reminds me of the college boy who thought money could cure any problem.
Such people were either born with a smirk on their faces or learned it from their parents.
He is the type who believes in using silly marketing phrases like "killer app".
He would be the guy standing on the side of the road waiting for AAA to come change his tire, because he can't figure out
thing No. 1 about changing a tire. It doesn't sound like he's ever gotten his feet wet or his hands dirty in the real world.
I have less faith in marketing weasels than politicians.
So I have very little concern whether he sounds comfortable. He's comfortable only because he's not the one trying to make this work.
I'll bet we're not going to hear what any of the engineers trying to make this work have to say.

These guys are salesmen. That is their job. Nobody is naive enough to think they would do anything but accentuate the positive. They’d be history, if they didn’t.

You do know how to tell if a salesman is lying, don't you?

Check to see if his lips are moving.

If you want to hear what engineers have to say, I suggest visiting Barry Mishkind's radio forum.

Do we really have to explain this to you?

What precisely did you expect him to say? "This is the tech I'm expected to sell to the public, and I think it stinks"???
