Peter Popoff is back

It looks like Peter Popoff has not learned from his past mistakes. He is buying airtime on WATL (WB) Atlanta, as well as other stations in order to hawk his miracle water.

I thought he put himself out of business during a visit to Johnny Carson's show 10 years ago, when it was revealed that his wife was helping him via an earpiece. He apparently declared bankruptcy shortly thereafter.

Apparently, WDAF-TV in Kansas City paid a visit to his offices in California recently. They found several new cars in the parking lot, including a 2006 Porsche.

Why are these stations Popoff is buying time from even selling it to him in the first place knowing that he is a fraud? (Answer: $$$).

If these stations sell him airtime knowing his past history and current allegations surrounding him, can't the FCC take action on their license? Also, are the stations setting themselves up for civil liability?

I think that these stations selling the airtime should have some sort of action taken against them. I also think that Peter Popoff should be behind bars!

The truth be told, Peter never Popped off. That fraud is running presently on Vancouver's Global BC Sunday nights, and Wednesday mornings on KVOS out of Bellingham (which serves Vancouver indirectly).

Isn't it amazing what two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen, and a generous amount of greedy showmanship will do for a person?

Meantime, if Rob Reiner's 1970s comedy special "TV Show" (that's the title of it!) ever resurfaces, miss it not. Therein was a hilarious sendup of another famous head-bonker - Ernest Angley. Great stuff, 'BAY-BEE'.

I think that these stations selling the airtime should have some sort of action taken against them. I also think that Peter Popoff should be behind bars!

In Canada, when the infomercial ads of his air, the stations air a disclaimer (with loud voice over reading it) that reads on the screen "The following is a paid presentation, and is in no way reflective of the views or opinions of this station" (or something like that), indicating in clear english that if you're watching a fraud, it was paid for and the station has nothing to do with the content of the program.

In translation, I already gathered that I may be about to watch someone try to sell me some garbage.

The CRTC (Cdn version of FCC) allows this because the station has done its part in alerting the viewer that they are watching something that they must accept as garbage. (or good at their own risk), and not in any way because the content claims to be worth paying for. (and how the station is not responsible for fraud, and blah blah blah, i think that's also mentioned.)

They then air at the end "This was a paid presentation..."

I'm not sure how the FCC regulates it.

Don't know if there is an FCC regulation for this, but many TV stations and cable networks also run similar disclaimers before infomercials.

Don't know about televangelists though, especially Popoff and even more so Pat Robertson (though ABC makes it clear they're not responsible).

I'm not sure about the rest of the country, but I've noticed a few stations here in Wisconsin that add to their disclaimers the number and/or website of the state's Consumer Protection department.

I believe you're speaking of Robert Tilton.  He's the one that does Success-N-Life.  I detest this man.  All he does is put money to his face and then says a prayer. 

Never mind the fact, he'll read from the letters he gets and then throws them away, while he's pocketing the money that he might get in some of them.

Far as I'm concerned, he's a fraud.  I would advise you to stay away from him and don't fall for any of his evil tricks.

All he wants is your money.

Most of these TV preachers, are a fraud anyway.  I don't take up for their false doctrines, since much of it is misleading the public and robbing them blind of their money.  I'd rather read from my Book Version, (Minus the Footnotes, Book Introductions, Study Notes and/or Cross Referencing Edition) DVD Version and Computer Version of the King James Bible and think and believe for myself.  I don't need some "False Teacher" telling me what to believe and think.  Just give me some help and guidance from the "Wonderful Holy Spirit" and I'll make it just fine.

Among other stations POPOFF's scam is running on is SPIKE TV (Weekdays at 7AM) and The Travel Channel (Weekdays at 830AM). I remember when I saw this for the first time last summer and thinking unbelivable. You'd never see such a thing happen on Leno or Letterman today. The networks wouldn't touch it. Someone needs to grow a pair and put the screws to these frauds (not the word I'd like to use, but certainly the only one that would be allowed here, and I'm including Trudeau and the other strictly secular fraudsters in this as well).

And he makes several millions , and preaches this doctrine of (Get Rich By Giving).. I will admit I have never been taken, but at one time in my life was convinced that God wanted all of us to live in big houses and have nice things, but think of this, When it says God will provide all of needs thru his son Jesus, its talkin bout eternal life my friends.. Most of these so-called televangelists are very crooked and fraudent in their practices.  Creflo A. Dollar Jr., (That's his real name) Robert Tilton, Ernest Angley, Kennith Copeland, Jesse Duplatis, Rod Parsley, Paula White, T.D. Jakes and Benny Hinn are some great examples.

I know of many folks that are falling for this name it and claim it nonsense and believe that it's the real Christianity, spoken of in the Bible.

Much of this "Christainity", that you see on:

BET (Early Morning)
And of course The 700 Club

is a fraud and is duping people to believe that God wants them to always be healthy and wealthy, if they name it, claim it and then send in their offerings.

The God I serve didn't promise His follwers a rose garden.  He promised to be there for us, when we needed Him.  However just because God doesn't bless you with material things, don't take that to mean He's deserted you.  He's always there, no matter what you're going through. 

Like I stated earlier, I'd rather have these resources to help me better understand God and His ways:

My Book Version of the King James Bible. (The Pure Text Version Only, With a Few Maps, Small 52 Page Concordance, The Words of Jesus Printed in Red and Leather Bound Cover)
My DVD version of the King James Bible. (With Stephen Johnston and various other people speaking)
And of course My Computer version of the King James Bible (With various other resources, I read from on occasions)

I can't remember what channel I saw it on, but didn't I see what remains of Dr. Gene Scotts show the other night? There was an attractive young woman in a clerical collar going on about something that didn't make any sense at all- just like Gene Scott. I never could figure out what he was talking about.

Most likely that was Melissa Scott, Gene Scott's widow, although she looks like she could be his daughter or even grand daughter. She was a stripper at one time, before meeting Gene.
