"....KLUV is one of the worst sounding CBS O & O classic hits station no matter who was programming it. KLUV's sound was and still is inferior sounding to WCBS-FM, KRTH-FM and WOGL-FM among others. If Peter Z was the program director and he was any good, why did and does KLUV sound so lousy compared to the others?"--Radio Truth

There's an easy answer to that question, Radio. It's because....

....because....

....You obviously spend more time listening to KLUV.

(Couldn't stand the prosperity, could you?)

I don't listen to any current radio at all. It all sucks including KLUV. Every few months, I do listen to a sampling of each station hoping something would improve but, it never does and generally gets worse.

So you don't listen... but you do listen. Thanks, that's perfectly clear!!! ;)

I read so much whining HERE about good people not being treated fairly and the suits not getting it. Its absurd. Did anyone think to check KLUV's ratings? They've been abysmal. Ratings are a PD's report card, when there are enough bad cards, somebody loses their job. I also love how people pretend to know how well/poorly a station's management and communication are-which greatly contribute to self-preservation. No one gets hired or fired because they're a nice guy. Being a good person can get you pretty far in life, but it sure aint enough to manipulate the meters. Creative industries need new blood and new ideas, that's the long and short of it. When the old ideas aren't doing it, and the blood goes stale, it's time to turn the page.

5th Place....4.4 Share....6+...In Market #5.

Oh yeah....Those ratings sure do suck all right.

Yep....

And you certainly do need "new blood"....at a Radio Station playing....

....Oldies.

6+ means nothing. Actually they're 15th 25-54. August 2010 they were 5th. PPM favors Classic Hits very well. They should be doing much better.

Radio Truth is correct. PD's today follow a formula setup by corporate, implement researched music, and work with lame talent handed to him. Kluv is a terrible sounding station compared to all the top 20 markets.....bad talent, bad voices, bad creativity.... Kluv's decent ratings are a product of "something new" which creates a new sizzle, but only for 12 to 18 months.... The lack of good talent and good processing and better music will just be water downed with other stations playing same era music. Look back at Kvil's demise.... Kluv is in the same vulnerable stage. Peter Z had his hands tied. A successful creative PD given power to reconstruct top to bottom from better music, better talent, and a better sound is what it will take to make Kluv survive the forthcoming demise in the next couple of years. It takes years working in the biz being part of success and failures and studying markets to understand this.

Speaking of bad talent...i found a you tube aircheck of ron chapman. I noticed a young Jody Dean standing in back of chapman handing him cds and carts. Perhaps Jody should go back to that job :D
