PETITION: (FOR THOSE!!!!!!)!!! WHO WOULD LIKE A SMOOTH JAZZ/URBAN AC STATION

For those who know (all about W I L D 1090) and the history about W I L D. For those who grew up on
W I L D 1090, and remember EVERYTHING!!!! GOOD that they did for their listenners and for the community of Boston.

Example, on Mother's Day. When Marc Coleman used to be on there as the "Time Tunnel" Host, around 11:45am he played about 12 minutes of the song "I'll Always Love My Mama" by the Intruders, he played the LONNNGGGGG version, that consisted of a LONNNNNNNNNGGGGGG Instramental version at the same time (LIVE) he would have the listeners dedicate that song (LIVE ON THE AIR) That's one of the BEST things they did.

They used to also have some special features throughout the day such as "Lee Bailey Radio Scope", "Cla'ence Update" <<<( That was a soap opera update) just to name a few.

For the past two years, I've been working (on my own) creating an Programming Philosophies along with some articles regarding the loss of 1090 W I L D. I've been sending it to some radio companies such as Entercom and Emmis asking them they should look into getting either a Smooth Jazz or Urban AC station here in Boston.

For those who would like to have an Smooth Jazz/Urban AC station here in Boston, please take a moment, and ONLY!!!!!! Respond if you are interested in this if you want that station.

If you really want this to happen, you have to talk a radio station owner's language...otherwise known as: M O N E Y. If you can't convince an owner that they'll be rolling in dough by running one of these formats, fuggedaboudit. A petition with perhaps a hundred signatures on it has the same chance as a snowball in hell.

Here is your petition format, it is known as a BUSINESS PLAN
You take it to the local bank, along with some of your friends who think this is a great idea, and with some of your money, and putting your houses up as collateral, and signing some personal guarantees, and some incorporation papers will Bill Galvins office, you raise the money to buy or lease a signal and then go sell advertising or get underwriters to pay your salaries, the office space, the electric bill, the ASCAP/BM fees, etc.


A couple of hundred grand should get you on a leased time station for a while till you either turn a profit, or realize what everyone else who owns, leases or LMA's radio properties in the market knows... IT AIN'T GONNA FLY!

Just for once I wish these armchair owners and programmers would put THEIR money where their mouth is. Prove me wrong.

Seriously, the format does not attract enough listeners or advertisers. Radio IS a business.
Instead of putting the financial burden on someone else, do it yourself!

My idea would be:

b)They make that Top 40 mainstream and MAKE WXKS urban AC.

WXKS-FM (Kiss) has been succesful for CC for a long time. They'd be foolish to change it's format and send it's listeners looking elsewhere on the dial for it, and they wouldn't.

If they could possibly get another FM in the metro (and I don't think there are any available), then that would be the one for a new format.
