Petros in at KFI?

Friends at clear channel say that Bill Handel has been pushing for the retirement of Rich Marrotta behind the scenes. the rumor is that Handel had Petros on his old noon show to comment about a news story about the Dodgers.Apparently Handel thought the two had an excellent report, and has suggested that he may add spark to the morning. The morning show still had great ratings but has lost a great deal of its creative edge. I am told that he feels some new blood doing sports could shake things up a bit. Can anyone back this up?

Can''t deny the chemistry between Handel and Petros, but as an avid listener to the show, I would like to see Petros as an addition rather than replacement. Handel doesn't care for sports in general discussion, Mirotta does a great sport segment in the news (entertaining and accessible to non-sports types) and Rich's political commentary and POV would be greatly missed. Don't get the impression Handel dislikes Rich, either.

Hearing Bill Carroll subbing for Handel this week, I now understand what Robin saw in him. He's not Handel, but doesn't need to be. I find him entertaining in his own way and he's able to better show it in the morning format. He's clearly the best sub KFI has had for Handel, IMHO.

I suspect both Bill Carroll and Petros will gradually become more a part of the show; until Bill Handel has had his fill of LA (his girls are teenagers, so I'm guessing 3-5 years), Mr Carroll along with Mr Petros pretty much seamlessly take over the show, with Rich Mirotta fully retiring and maybe serving as a political expert when warranted. If this is the plan, KFI has made a good investment in Bill Carroll and integrating Petros.

Petros was on the noon show quite frequently. At first I think it was just a convenience thing because the two shows were close together in timeslots, but he started appearing a lot more afterward both in-studio and over the phone.

I don't see Petros moving over to KFI and leaving sister station KLAC and FSR. Have you seen 570's numbers? Robin's hubby Don Martin has run that station into the ground!

That would be a good plan but I don't think Handel is going to retire anytime soon. Petros seems like he is good for short periods but I think I'd get tired of hearing him all the time. The show would not be the same without Rich.

I don't listen to Carroll much since his topics are usually dull. He needs a Hoffman or maybe Petros for back and forth type of a conversation.

The Handel show misses Lara Hermanson. I am bored of Todd laughing at his jokes. He occasinally says something funny and clever but he laughs at his own jokes more often than they are worth laughing at. And the fat jokes have gotten stale.

What happenned with Hanna?

Bill Carroll is a train wreck. He complains about LA and California all the time then tells people who lived here all their lives to go back to Mexico if you don't like it. I agree if people don't like it here, they should leave; wheter it's Mexico, Canada, or Scotland.
