I guess if I were the River PD, I might tell Chris Miller to do a 180 back to Portland. Flush the jocks!

Seriously, River's #s cant hold up. They'll have a really good winter book and then will settle back down to the Dave/96rock/99x ballpark within a year. And then get trounced from there on. You cant tell me that a format featuring Eagles/Boston/FMac will become a player.

Mid-term ratings nothwithstanding, its quite possibly the worst overall launch I've ever heard. Other than real radio 105.3.

If you want to program radio successfully, quit thinking like a "radio programmer".

Don't over estimate the taste of your average
Arbitron diary keeper.

Those artists are VERY popular with women AND men 35-54 years old (who aren't and have never have worked in radio; 99.9% of the general public)

The execution, imaging, jocks...I don't know. Haven't heard them. But, most
of the general public does not care about that stuff...except maybe reliable
traffic information and indentifing artists and song titles.

If they rotate and freshen their music right, The River has a long shelf life.
It's the NEW Oldies.
