Phil Hendrie Regular on New NBC Sitcom

TiVo Alert: KFI, Los Angeles/Premiere Radio evening talk show host Phil Hendrie is a regular on the new NBC sitcom "Teachers" (Tuesday, 9:30 pm ET). Hendrie's syndicated show, carried on progressive and traditional talk stations, airs Monday through Friday 10pm-1pm ET.

Off the top of my head, this makes him (at least) the third LA radio personality to take a regular or recurring role in a prime time TV series:
1. Bob Crane (The Donna Reed Show; Hogan's Heroes).
2. Jay Thomas (Mork & Mindy; Cheers; Murphy Brown).

Going to the other way, actress Janeane Garofolo was a regular on HBO's "The Larry Sanders Show" and has had a recurring role on "The West Wing," and became a radio talk show host.

If this week's premiere is any evidence of its future direction, Hendrie's role is pretty small, though he did drive the plot a bit in the beginning.

On the other hand, it wasn't as stupid as most sitcoms tend to be. My wife (who is incredibly intolerant of sitcom stupidity, and who also hates the genius that is Phil Hendrie) was able to sit through it.<P ID="signature">______________
