Phil Keaggy Speaks out on the industry

I've always just been completely honest with the Lord, with myself, with my friends on this topic. When I encountered opinions on CCM / Christian rock at Dial the "Truth", I spent a good deal of time researching the topic - and found the Word of God completely neutral as to musical style - if anything promoting the temple worship group of ancient Hebrew times (which resembles a rock group more than a choir and organ).

The point it - I worship to exciting music in my church, one of the youngest - yet most fundamental - in the nation. I don't really worship to slow boring music. It just doesn't touch my heart / minister to my spirit / uplift my faith / allow me to express my love and gratitude to God. It puts me to sleep. The church I am in - is filled with folks who are excited by their faith and worship with exciting music. That translates into me listening to stations that play that type of music.

I'm glad that hymns and Southern gospel are on the air for folks that want them. Those stations are not even on my presets in the car. The music doesn't enhance my walk / worship of God. It bores me or grates on my nerves. But I know other folks have different tastes - I'm happy for them that there is a station that meets their needs, and churches that they can attend and have their music.

What gets me angry is when somebody of either musical tastes has the audacity to tell somebody of another musical taste "you are wrong to worship to that". I've had it happen to me - on this forum - and I didn't appreciate it. I would be just as angry if a Christian rock fan told a Southern gospel fan that they are wrong.

Just agree to disagree about musical taste and be done with it. There is no "right" music or "wrong" music - unless it is secular music whose words are heresy or clearly carnal. Style is neutral, folks!

See my "repeat after me" posts.... ;)

Actually, you're demonstrating a well-known principle -- "first in the brain wins." Those things in those places went in your brain first, and, thus, your brain considers them "normal" and possibly even your "choices" or "preferences."
